soluto - best startup program analysis software i've ever used

hands down.

http://www.soluto.com/

Soluto bills itself as an "Anti-Frustration Software", and it's not hard to see why—it tracks all the applications in your system boot process, and tells you exactly which ones are slowing you down.

Once you've installed the software and rebooted your PC, Soluto springs into action, tracking every single process that runs during the boot process, and then allows you to easily drill down into the list of processes to see exact times for each one. To make it easier for the layman to understand what processes can be removed, the applications are grouped into "No-brainer" or "Potentially removable" groups.

smashing bit of software.

nice
Oh nice one Kaini, will come in handy no doubt
Yeah, this might come in very handy, thanks.
i need this!
hey kaini... after i've run solluto to pause progs, can i then remove it from the boot process?

i managed to save about 30 seconds on boot time from removing superfluous stuff, but then the solluto software itself adds 7.7 seconds back in as it wants to permanently run in the boot. (and it tells me that it is essential to continually monitor the boot process)
i wonder if i now ininstall soluto completely will the progs i removed from the boot process revert back to previous setup?

I was wondering the same....

i just went ahead and uninstalled soluto anyway, and the other progs didn't revert back.

it seems like a good app to install and run occasionally for some tidy ups but it's ironicly large and slows down start-up.

lol, I was thinking the same thing about it being a cumbersome little beast. Good to know that it doesn't revert back. I reckon I'll just delete this, then possibly re-install it if I make any major changes.
woah, where did all these comments come from?

if i want to permanently remove something, i use MSCONFIG or services.msc (to stop a service).

i find this most useful for the in-depth analysis it provides - much better than that of, say, hijackthis.de
i tried this software and it was shit. obviously written in .net, slow as shite, full of fancy graphics crap and low on results. stick with msconfig, hijackthis, and google.
