Hip Hop must haves 1 2 3

Just been picking up some of the classic Hip-Hop albums on vinyl since I no longer have any of the tapes or a tape player. How's this for starters? I know there's probably hundreds of great albums I could buy next, but what are the true classics that are must haves for a collection?

Looking for a high quality sound effect of a rifle/shotgun being fired and "rolling over the hills" In other words a nice clean rifle shot echoing in open air for a few seconds. Looked through a couple sound effect libraries and on youtube but everything I've found is shitty quality or too short. I know this sound is in a bunch of western movies but I've scanned through a few and am losing patience. If anyone could help out it would be much appreciated!

Just found out about this via the Stones Throw website ("Peanut Butter Wolf is the music supervisor of the film, Madlib has created original music for the score" ); these guys have pretty much been my favorite hiphop group ever since a little snot-nosed Bob picked up Peoples Instinctive Travels on cassette a gazillion years ago. Anyway it looks awesome and I'd love to see it; hope it makes it's way around the art house theater circuit after the Sundance Festival... it's directed by Michael Rapaport who I had no idea until now was ATCQ fan. http://www.atribecalledquestmovie.com A really good article & video about Phife and the Tribe's feelings on the docu…

this mighty interesting genre was the manifestation of what was right about electronic music for me in the early 00's . completely free of all convention, very organic despite the coldness, elegant and smart. i've had a couple of hdd wipeouts since then and got swayed from electronic music to american psych stuff and kinda neglected the glitch thing. i realize now that the thing looks almost dead save for fennez and tim hecker and maybe a couple more, lost all the hype it had..even pitchfork raved about the german glitch dudes back then, and its strange cause that genre framework had seemingly limitless potential. maybe im just not tuned to the right wave but i do…

Anyone on WATMM a member? Just tried it out and I love that it provides unlimited uploads. Soundcloud is a better player overall, but the space limitations on the basic account are annoying. Pretty cool that you can archive hours of music on this and have a timestamped tracklist. Tagging by artist is very cool too. Share your profile here if you have one.

Some of you that have been around these parts for a while might remember that I released an album through binkcrsh Records called Synesthesiac. That was back in 2006, and it hasn't been available through them for awhile. Well, I just re-released it through my bandcamp page. It's donation-based, so you can download it for free or donate if you like. Cheers! william s. braintree - Synesthesiac

I found out about him through Mass Effect 2. It has a really sweet song of his playing in one of the areas. I looked him up and there's a free download on his site. Btw, you IDM connoisseurs probably will like the second half of the album much more than the first. Fourth song and onward reminds me a lot of Telefon Tel Aviv with some dnb elements thrown in (I might be completely wrong about this though, I'm terrible at describing music). Also, here's the song featured on Mass Effect 2. Now, there are two versions. I prefer the one that appears in the game. It's mastered differently and consequently sounds a lot better than the original. http://www.mediafire.com/?d8…
