Interview with Kenneth Goldsmith, founder and main editor of Ubuweb, the Internet's largest archive of artistic avant-garde material. Poet, university professor and amateur archivist, Kenneth Goldsmith is the founder and main editor of Ubuweb, the Internet's largest archive of artistic avant-garde material. An underground project that has no institutional backing or budget of any kind, Ubuweb is an influential repository that is as exhaustive as it is personal, reflecting the preferences, quirks and obsessions of its creator. Sona talks to Kenneth Goldsmith about the origins, ideas and operation of Ubuweb. Link: http://bit.ly/gCdwHR MP3: http://rwm.macba.cat…

Right, let's have it! Anything featuring that lovely little silver box of joy, or with general house vibes. Fairly broad so we should come up with some interesting stuff. Particularly looking for more tunes like the first three if anyone has any recommendations? Slightly poppy late 80s acid type vibe. Love DJing with these (though sadly only digital on the latter as it goes for a fucking bomb) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-35AnIPsGg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN9bgP0Z3Yk This is a lot more recent, but will tear your knackers off. This LIVES in my record box. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yj9x8cjvBI

don't remember when we did a thread like that for the last time (if at all), lets do it again. that's not a top 10-100 albums exactly (although it could easily overlap), but more like: albums that have changed your life, expanded your consciousness, changed your taste completely, made you a better person..stuff like that, not necessarily albums you listen and come back to the most, something you could list without making much effort. this is sort of chronological: radiohead - ok computer radiohead - kid a autechre - confield lali puna - scary world theory tortoise - standards sunburned hand of the man - headdress shalabi effect - trial of st orange black dic…

Boards of Canada the most distinctive sound

whose productions are instantly recognizable? listening to 8ball & mjg's in our lifetime vol. 1 i thought it must be organized noize but it was mr. dj, an o.n.p. affiliate organized noize productions often feel like an artistical interpretation of the entire black experience, with a southern slavery-relevant anticipatory mood of freedom like obviously you could point out boards of canada as having a distinctive characteristic sound; i'd be hard pressed to say who i like more... anyways let's discuss this a few more examples i can think of are--in hip-hop: dr. dre (though he basically filtered p-funk into rap), the neptunes; in our kind of electronics: the orb (quit…

modern vinyls pressed with cd masters 1 2
by Guest Helper ET- 39 replies
- 2.2k views
i am bloody outraged. i suppose im not completely surprised, they always somehow find a new low. i just found out about this word on the streets, is that many modern vinyls are pressed using the cd masters! the digital master! now im not a vinyl expert, but im pretty sure albums are supposed to be specially mastered to be pressed on vinyl. so using a master from a cd, is kind of like, wtf dude...not cool vinyl freaks: please dont come in here and spout off your elite knowledge of vinyl records for 17 paragraphs. simply express your outrage this is bullshit right here im writing a fucking letter or something

Through the power of syncing my brain has been reminded of a long lost track I found as a small boy adventuring into electronic music... As far as track name details, all I remember is the artist first name John and the word Odyssey, however I believe odyssey may be my mind fucking with me because any combination of the words "john" "odyssey" and anything else I can possibly think of yield completely irrelevant results in all the search engines I've tried As far as sounds I can give you but two examples. The synth as well as the riff that arrives at about 1:45 in Delphium off Saw 85-92 seems to be an almost exact duplication of a riff in the track I'm thinking…
