arguing this because somehow it all creates a Christmas-y atmosphere. Even the ones I hate somehow it reminds me of the holidays. I guess you could argue like church music sounds HOLY but some I don't really think sounds holy just like warm milk and cookies feeling I dunno. How does one even do this with certain sequences of notes (might be a loaded question like by the same token how does some music sound holy/patriotic [except I don't feel this I just sort of agree with it but Christmas music it's fucking subconscious]) also someone experiment by exposing some Christmas-obsessed freaky person to Eno/musician of your choice also sort of merging two threads together b…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh5gG_NUWTg MJ wrote lyrics to Yellow Magic Orcestra's Behind the Mask. It was supposed to be on Thriller but they dropped it when they decided to make Thriller a single LP. MJs keyboard player Greg Philliganes recorded it with MJ's vocal melody and lyrics. The actual MJ version is going to be on the "new" album. Michael Jackson and YMO!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHz1P6NGMCw

In the last few weeks I've been going back and re-purchasing a lot of my favorite DJ'ing tunes in .wav format. When re-acquiring my Eskmo collection, I stumbled upon a new Eskmo remix of a Spor tune. Excited about the prospect of a delicious new Eskmo tune, I purchased it after giving a brief listen on the site's shitty lo-fi audio player. Listening to the tune today, I noticed it sounded fuzzy every time there was a bassline note or a sub bass hit. I opened it up in a wave editor to see this: Fucking outrageous. The audio is in the red for about 95% of the entire song. There's a lot of brickwall mastering these days where people put a limiter RIGHT before …

...but does anyone here have any direct evidence for Kraftwerk REGULARLY using classical music as a direct source of influence? By direct I mean to the point of using it within their own music. And by REGULARLY I mean more often than these two examples: I heard this one of Tour De France here and was quite suprised. However, we were given this movement by Haydn to listen to as an assignment in one of our music modules and I instantly thought of Showroom Dummies when I heard those first few notes. I know that second one is quite a simple motif, and could quite easily be replicated by Kraftwerk's own compositional skills, but has anyone heard whether they direct…

Id like to rip 3 or 4 tapes to digital files. Lossless preferably but Id settle for 320 mp3s. Would I need a load of hardware or what? I won't bother if I have to go off and buy a load of shit. Cheers lads/ladies.

I've already said how much I love this song and I thought the imagery from Berserk went along with the song really well I used scenes that show the relationship between Gatsu and Griffith (in a limited time span mind you) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJgAm_ikUlY

i've been really getting into trying to make electronic music sound more 'natural' lately, i haven't heard much else that is like that, except for 70s electronic stuff where it was unavoidable due to technology limitations. is there much in the way of electronic music that exploits the cloudy, lofi sound of having too many effects in a chain, while still retaining melodic sensibilities? if so, post some! example: http://pselodux.bandcamp.com/track/ntiner

I've been ripping and downloading music for 10+ years now. I have 200+ gigs. I keep a "work" folder for tracks that don't have proper ID3 tags or album art ect.. After I fix them I move them to a "burn" folder. Once that folder reaches 4.5 gigs, I burn it to DVD for backup and move the Mp3s to my library. I was interested in buying a blu-ray burner, but external hard drives are cheaper than blank blu-rays. I'm thinking of buying another external just for backup. How do you backup your music?

in context, 2:04 in this video really speaks to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8-QDCKdVO4 objectively, i think the best melody is found in kaini industries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxh1v2NIQ2I another exceptional one is the leads trey plays after 6:02 in this video, though since it's so protracted i guess you have to call it a solo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOFcicdHtBw post your favorite melodies, youtubes welcome!

I read somewhere that Vsnares wrote a line or 2 describing every song in 2370894's booklet. Does anyone have it, or know where can I find scans? Discogs' not helping.

do you ever look back at what you used to listen to and fear that you have followed the thread of association too far down the rabbit hole? and that you may have strayed to far? and have a desire to listen to the core music that sits in the centre of your spiderweb? just wondering.

Seriously, so much of it is good that it's hard to make a decision. If you were pointing a gun to my head I would say Orbus Terrarum, but if I had time to think about my choice I would say Adventures in the Ultraworld.
