ARP Solus
by Guest 277: 930-933- 4 replies

The envelope on my Solus seems to be fucked. The only thing that seems to work anymore is the sustain. When I hit a note it just keeps on going till I turn the sustain down, even when I turn the solus off and then turn it on again it's still going. Could this even be? First I thought the keyboard cv was fucked but I can still play various notes. But adjusting attack, decay or release does nothing... Any ideas? I've fought with this synth before and don't use it THAT much so I tried looking for an example patch of a short beep or lead sound but couldn't find antyhing, in case I'm just missing something. Of course the method of returning all knobs and …

Check it: http://www.myspace.com/metricstylerecords Everything Ephemeral and Spiders in my Circuitry are both mine. The streaming quality's okay, though not great. Sounds good through speakers. Some people here might also enjoy atonaliS and Bexarametric, so be sure to give them a listen as well. I thought this would be the best forum to post this in as it's not a "latest creation", and it doesn't seem appropriate for general banter (though I have seen other people posting adverts like this in there). Feel free to moderate if I'm off the mark, moderators.

Bass-ics
by Guest hahathhat- 10 replies

When you're mixing, how do you handle bass? Here are some points I go by. Someone, please tell me if I'm spot-on, nuts, k-rad, whatever. I generally EQ as follows: - Cut the low-low stuff that you don't hear anyways via a low shelf - There's an area around 200 hz which boosting seems to add clarity to the notes. I either... - Cut below and above the area (holding to the rule i was given that, less EQ is better, and better to cut freqs than add) OR - Boost the area itself. - Take a bit out of stuff above that clarity area - Boost around 1-2kHz, depending on instrument - Cut all high freqs that aren't needed. Is that the right idea?…

w00t! I sync teh DIN!
by Guest analogue wings- 20 replies

Just bought one of these for dick-all: It converts MIDI-to DIN-sync and vice versa. Plus it looks well smart in its Juno colours. Works out cheaper than it would have been to get a dedicated midi-din box + shipping from overseas.

soft samplers
by Guest Adjective- 11 replies

usually i'm sampling household objects and appliances. triggering the samples on the peaks is satisfactory in most cases for me but... i have a collection of samples from scissors, hedge trimmers and that sort these have a sort of signature pre-peak noise, which made me desire an option to quantize the peaks but keep the bits before. the handles rubbing together before the peak is kind of hot i guess the host would have to read ahead or something odd here's an illustration of what i was thinking i'll just be manually offsetting the notes for now, but still curious so does this have a name and if so which samplers offer it?

i'm on the market for a good stool sampler, do they make any kind of sampler that doubles as a workbench where you can sort of sit on it without messing up knobs and presets? like i'll sample some shit or what have you, then send it to my pc, and then i want to use the sampler as a stool while i work on the PC. know of anything like this?

ok, i've got this crappy mixer (will buy new one when funds allow, so no comments about buying new mixer please) with only one ground on it....however, there is a screw on the back that looks like it could also serve the function (not what it was intended for, I'm sure) so my question is, do you think it would be ok for me to ground one of my decks to this screw? cheers. muchly.

preset instruments
by Guest Farcast- 9 replies
Perhaps this is too general a question, but there's so much talk about designing instruments in reaktor; is it frowned upon to use the presets? Not that I have a problem with frowning, mind you. It's just a hell of a learning curve and there are some decent sounds already.

Im sick of freeware. Ive been demoing things but nothing has quite convinced me yet. SURGE is the top contender so far, its only 150 dollars or so, and its really well put together. Kubik is 60 bucks and ill probably get that too although thats not what I need atm. Im looking for something a bit bigger though. It needs lots of routing options, a modular or semimodular probably. VAZ modular is up there as a top choice, but its a bit outdated. Ive also looked at tassman a lot, it has VERY nice sounds and im almost pulling the trigger(gotta love the physical models). Budget is my only problem. Im looking to spend 200 dollars max and those are both over 300 dollars. If anybod…

firewire trouble
by Guest jim- 20 replies
- 1.6k views
right so i bought a focusrite sapphire LE interface today, i was gonna go usb but then i thought "lets get in on this here firewire craic, theres a port for it on my laptop", turns out there isn't, the bigass firewire lead from the interface is about 5 times the size of the port. So i googled it and found out that there's two different sizes of firewire port, should i be ragin and take it back to the shop or is there an adaptor lead i can get... and in that case would it affect how well the thing works?

My portable studio is complete
by Guest ~ism- 10 replies

so, my ideal portable studio setup is complete with my recent acquisition of an RME Fireface400 and Arturia's most fucking excellent Analog Factory bundle. (though have 6 beta) plus all the usual mountains of vsts and other shit accrued over the past 4 or 5 years. happiness is a pile of empty NFR boxes and ill-gotten hardware packaging.

Three Ableton Live 5 questions...
by Guest Yggdrasil- 5 replies
- 1.2k views
I'm sure there are a few users on here who can help out with these: Is there a sample reverse button? I remember Live 4 had one, but I can't find it for the life of me in 5.2.... I've got several loops running in my current project that incorporate the sample offset feature, but one loop is not reading the sample offset information...it's just grayed out. Any idea how to reactivate it? Can't finish the tune until I figure this one out. When drawing mixer/volume information in the arrangment window, is there any way to make the lines fluid or angled, rather than box-like? I need a gradual fade-in/fade-out and smooth panning... Thanks for the help. There'll be…
