The Story Of Zentrix (again)

So this is that old track from the Warp Sampler back at the early part of the decade. However, I have never heard this version before. Can anyone throw any light on where it came from?

A nice version, I think. Gives the piece a more enigmatic quality than the original.

yeah, thats some nice stuff.

i never really enjoyed the original anyway. it's kinda cool and definitely got this weird mysterious vibe to it, but its just too short and not enough anything to really appreciate.

The original was from a cheap animation done with early animation software - this version you posted is most likely a fan-made creation post-BoC making it notable.

I have the original animation/sound and there are no other sound effects besides the voices.

actually, the story is immensely better without the funky keys going on in the background.

also, lol at "there was a cave one mile long" with a visual graph saying 1000 miles.

so why was it credited to boc on the cd?

thanks for the posting the vid/info btw :D

It wasn't credited to BoC - Hell Interface, who typically take existing works and "rework" them (Trapped, Midas Touch), so this fits in with the HI (Scores) mandate (if there is one; I'm just guessing), although I can't really see what they did with the track to differientiate it from the original.

At least with Energy Warning they adding some other sounds to the mix over the lo-fi .au soundfile!

Are you certain of that? I remember when this first came up, it was never clearly established if the video took the track from BoC or BoC took the audio from the 3DMM film. As the site you linked said, the film was made in 2003, so it could have very well have been after the WIF0F2003 release on 06 Jan 2003.

EDIT: The timestamp of the film itself (in the zip linked from that forum) is 16 Mar 2003.

BOC wrote the track originally.

Ah, good to know the mystery's finally solved. Good detective work on your part as well, Moebius! So I guess it's safe to say that the creator of the video heard the WIFO2003 release, and made a video to accompany it, and not vice-versa as originally though.
