Question about cv sequencing

So, I've built a CV sequencer, & seem to have it working, more or less. The CV signal goes to the CV on my MS-10, & the CV out on the MS-10 goes to the trigger. It makes all sorts of different pitches & blippy noises. Problem is, I seem to lose envelope control while it's running (altering attack/decay/sustain/release has no effect), meaning I can't produce anything but blippy noises. Is there a way to change this?

Starting a new track

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to the electronic music world. I love to write electronic music, however I often have trouble starting on a track. Have you guys got any tips that could help me start off?

Thanks a lot,

A Dilemma

Hello, don't know if anyone knows me in these parts, I never really post here, as I don't write music and stuff.

Anyway, I play most acid/breaks kind of music, and I think I'm getting to the point where I would like to try my hand out in clubs and the like. The problem is that most clubs around where I live (southern US) play mostly hiphop (rare, but there) or "indie"/80s (majority). Just looking to see if anyone on here has had this problem, and what have they done to attempt to solve this.

Idk, I'm rambling a little, but I look at places such as Austin, L.A., Dallas, Memphis, and there is a strong electronic sound in these cities...is moving my only step to fixing this? lolzzzzzz

edit: there may be one club/live music place nearby that would
possibly go for this type of music, as people like Prefuse, Jem, and Dr. Octagon have all gone there before...idk /ramble

What to do with all these tunes?

I'm pondering starting a netlabel to distribute tunes by myself and some friends. Distributing mp3s/WAVs for free seems to be the way to go, because then there's none of the hassle of setting up an actual business. However, the main thing I don't like about 'free' distribution is the idea that the music is valueless - in a certain way perhaps placing the music for sale somewhere would be a good way to encourage more people to steal it? At least then they'll be listening to it, so I'm not too fussed about that. The aim of the game is to get some listeners. I think we've got some really good stuff, so it seems a shame to just have it all sat here on my hard drive.

I'd like to have the music located somewhere (probably a .com) that it is discoverable beyond soundcloud/myspace, and packaged up into individual releases. As well as sending out to radio stations and DJs, I would then do some light, non-spammy promotion around forums and my facebook network etc to announce each new release/mix/video/whatever. I'd like to keep it low key, this music is meant to be underground after all. Most of all I'd like to get some of our material out to real music listeners, not just other producers on forums and so on. I'm very aware of treading the fine line between shoving stuff in people's faces (not good), and being practically invisible (as now, also not ideal).

I'm a bit of a long time lurker/sniper around here, so posting a thread is unusual for me. I'd really like some advice from any of you who've done something similar, or who have come to the same situation and perhaps done something different? I know some of you have done this sort of thing already, so how did it go, how is it going? Thanks chaps.

Dead 606

"Why do you hold to the shit in the first place?" is always the question I ask myself. I have a 101 and a 606 and for all the fretting and money and sleepless nights I spend on their behalf, they'll just shit in my lap like some spoiled child king in Thailand.

Uh, anyway--
1. Complete compliment of 4 fully-charged "C" batteries. Nowt
2. 4 different 9 V DC output adapters (seems weird, I accumulate these things like velcro), no dice.

The one symptom is a an ever-so-faint LED activation of the "I" part of the "Pattern Group" section. Am I "underjuicing" it or am I on another level of fucked? Thanks all.

RECYCLE thread

so i never really knew exactly what this program was about so i youtubed and many of my questions about this software was solved...it seems very useful for beats, to have them in the rex format and be able to manipulate them in reason.

i have a book somewhere and it had a short 2 page article on aphex twin. At the time he listed recycle as his favorite software...which makes me question, was he also using reason ? how does that work? (recycle without reason. I assume just for making a perfect loop.......... but what about making drill with recycle ?

so i'd like to hear from recycle users about their experience and maybe how to make some sick beats, tips and tricks . thanks you .

"We went to a label in Manchester that distributed XL. The guy there was like, “Yeah, you need to measure it up more squared like every 16 bars, maybe get a vocal loop in there,
maybe a rock stab would be fresh.” And we’re thinking, “Shut up! This isn’t what we do.” The best thing he said was, “It reminds me of Brian Eno.” But that was an insult from him."
