i invoke your mystical force, the strength and meaning you give to my life. i'm just a disenchanted fan amongst others but you have to help me. help me recover my creativity and give me something to dream about. give me landscapes for my imagination to run into. tell me the mystical secrets our ancestors whispered at dawn on the misty plains. tell me the dread, tell me the forgiven spells that open doors to the invisible, eternal scream of loneliness. release something for me. get back to the good stuff, back to magic and i'm too tired to continue this post

Green Calx Robocop Sample

Is it just a nice sound that teh afx liked? Or, is there some sort of symbolism going on? A clunky robot trying to complete a physical maneuver requiring a certain degree of elegance and grace... might this be analagous to churning such a noise into a song?

Where to buy Analord 1-11?

Are the files on Rephlex.com good quality digital downloads? They're WAV files, but it says that they're pre-mastered, etc? Not sure if I want something that's just bumped off of a DAT or something. I really don't know-- so I'm asking here about the quality. Is this the only place to buy the Analord series digitally? Rephlex is the only place to get the bonus tracks, right?

Synchronized AFX Album Cycle

Alright folks well I'm back with another sickeningly fanboyish idea.

What if we listen to the entire AFX discography over the course of a few weeks/months and discuss about it periodically. I like going to shows to listen to music WITH other people, and sometimes me and a buddy will sync up a track so that it starts at exactly the same time and discuss how awesome it is. Its basically just a splooge of Aphex fanboyism but if this had to go anywhere, the AFX forums here on our own Watmm is the place.

I'm thinking we listen to an album for like 3 days or so, and then move on to the next one. Just the idea of knowing that all the other AFX fans on here also have the same RDJ album (lol pun) as me going in rotation. Also we can talk about the albums one by one while we do this and discuss what tracks we like/dislike and what tracks we've grown to enjoy. The only rules would be that you have to listen to the ENTIRE album cumulatively within the period for everyone. We could negotiate the rotation period obviously but the basic premise stays the same.

I don't think there is really much point to this, just a fun and interesting experiment but would you guys be down for making the epic RDJ journey together?

Here's a list I picked up, feel free to change as you please:

Week 1: Analogue Bubblebath Vol. 1-2
Week 2: Bradley's Beat / Bradley's Robot / Pac-Man EP
Week 3: Digeridoo / Caustic Window Compilation
Week 4: Surfing on Sine Waves / Quoth EP
Week 5: Xylem Tube EP / Analogue Bubblebath Vol. 3
Week 6: On EP / On Remixes EP
Week 7: SAW 85-92 / Analogue Bubblebath Vol. 4
Week 8: SAWII
Week 9: I Care Because You Do / Donkey Rhubarb
Week 10: Ventolin EP / Ventolin Remixes EP
Week 11: Analogue Bubblebath Vol. 5 / Melodies From Mars
Week 12: RDJ Album / Girl-Boy EP
Week 13: Hangable Autobulb EP / Mike & Rich
Week 14: Come To Daddy / Windowlicker
Week 15: Drukqs
Week 16: Smojphace / 2 Remixes by AFX / 26 Mixes for Cash
Week 17: Analord EPs
Week 18: Rushup Edge / Confederation Trough

Are there any albums I forgot? Not sure, don't think so. It runs a little long, but RDJ has more albums than Ae overall I'm sure, and 4.5 months of listening to AFX isn't bad! Any tips on switching the albums or compressing, would be great!

Deathfuck Bass Assault

Fuck you it's been talked about a thousand times but repetition is the pathway to Enlightment--ask any tabla or sitar player. I'm talking about the 50-200 Hz or so "runs" that happen from 4:13 to 5:41. My 12" drivers can barely run the race without falling in the mud. I can use a triplet of 8" subs in a bandpass plexiglass box with a 1,200 watt PPX amp to help me get through the night on this one. I was in drumline and played first snare; most recent pic:
http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bF7nEJRLP3UAUU2jzbkF/SIG=12nmrug3r/
EXP=1268081255/**http%3a//images.allmoviephoto.com/2002_Drumline/
2002_drumline_013.jpg
and I always cummed over the concept of the bass drum drumline configuration and when they would get their shit together (more "sluggish" drummers get relegated to bassline where I came from), it was the shit:
http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bHLSDpRLfx4AVO2jzbkF/SIG=12f25tngg/
EXP=1268080722/**http%3a//www.dynastyband.com/graphics/eventgallery/
60_747.jpg
You can see the pretty dramatic decrescendo in diameters and thus a wide range of wavelengths available. Even though the "Deathfuck" portion sounds like a bass line on 17 rails of crank, someone like the Acoustica folk could pull it off--albeit with much toil and trouble.
Don't take my word for it, just watch a 'Tub (the Cadets have been and always be unbeatable. Less human than machine)
*if you listen all the way to the end, you'll hear a guy get overwhelmed and come his pants like I do when a top-form bassline steps on scene.

Not sure if you have seen this but I like it. The lads who made it must be British...er sorry English...er maybe Islanders From the Shire....er from Great Britain. Oh fuck it from the UK. Will that do?

How do I know? Because they spend time smashing things up with hammers in a sand-pit. Americans would all be on skateboards with big floppy haircuts and drinking soda-pop. Thats how I know.
