That other thread ....

I thought we were having a good old discussion in there but alas the thread has been locked!

Anyway, I conclude that MDG (or whatever the Hexagonsun he/she/it is called) should shut the f**k up & keep all their BoC talk to themselves. How about exercising a bit of that patience people are talking about & stop with the fanning the flames posts?! When it's here. That's how I see it & I certainly don't want a running diary as someone on the other thread suggested. I'm looking forward to more BoC material but it's not the be all & end all. Plenty of other fantastic stuff out there.

BTW, I posted a link to a couple of tracks on the other thread, which I cunningly claimed were new found leaks from my fake Heaxagonsun domain!! I fooled round about ........ zero people!! But those tracks were actually from a very interesting album of old TV music from the late 70's/early 80's that I would like to draw people's attention to. It's on a label could 'Ghost Box'. Thwy have released some really cool stuff that I think fans of BoC's music will really like;

BoC wants you to sign this petition

Quote

It has been a rumor for sometime now that the BBC was going to make budget cuts in the future, these cuts have alway linked themselves to the developing digital radio stations.

The Times newspaper has reported "The BBC will close two radio stations, shut half its website and cut spending heavily on imported American programmes in an overhaul of services to be announced next month."

"In a wideranging strategic review, he will announce the closure of the digital radio stations 6 Music and Asian Network and introduce a cap on spending on broadcast rights for sports events of 8.5 per cent of the licence fee, or about £300 million."

To me and many hundreds of thousands of people stations like 6Music provide the alternative service that we want in a radio station, and not the constant repeated and regurgitated output of the FM broadcasts of Radio 1 & 2.

This maybe a pointless and unorgainised petition (if you want to help just ask) that will never get anywhere but I would like to think that there are people out there that want quality and choice in what the BBC broadcast.

Who knows maybe we can make a difference.

An apology

OK, this has taken way way way too long, but I have just realized that I have made a terrible, terrible mistake. I have woken up from a bizarre period of delusion where, for some reason, I started something called the BoC ultimatum in this subforum. After Boards of Canada gave us so much, not to mention the unreleased tapes we're not supposed to hear, I had to be a big man and decide that wasn't good enough. That Boards of Canada are not allowed to go at their own pace, and that they owe us brand new material whenever their fans feel like hearing it, along with daily information on exactly what they're doing and when they're releasing their next mandatory load of material.

So instead of playing it cool and enjoying their current discography for a bit, I've just gone ahead and seriously disrespected one of my favourite musical groups, and I have pushed away many other fans who may have otherwise respected me.

So, let's go over why this was such an awful idea in the first place:

1) Boards of Canada do not read these threads, and even if they did, it would be impossible for a single fan to have any kind of control over BoC's decisions with the new album.

2) By making such a selfish, impatient demand, I have utterly diminished any kind of credit I had as a loyal, decent fan. So threatening to stop being a fan would have absolutely no impact. After all, why would someone want to keep a fan that threatens to quit if they don't release their material fast enough, anyway?

3) Publicly announcing something like that to a large group of people who are actually patient enough to wait for the new album is an incredibly stupid thing to do, and, naturally, people have reacted very negatively towards me.

Even if I had reached the deadline, it would only have made a negative difference. I would have continued listening to their music anyway, but instead of being a part of this community, I would have been forced out of it through my own actions. Suppose I made a discovery on May 2nd that "Slow This Bird Down" sounds amazing backwards, and I tried to post here to tell you about it. Just imagine what kind of mockery I would get. I would have shut myself out of being able to openly discuss Boards of Canada at all, which is the whole point of being a member of this forum.

So, basically, all I have done is degrade myself, risk locking myself out of the community, and annoyed a lot of people who still respect Boards of Canada, no matter how long they spend between releasing albums. They are the real fans. I wish I could still call myself one.

I would like to publicly apologize. I probably don't deserve to hear a new album after doing this. This is my new approach: I'll just lie low, appreciate their old material, and stop expecting an album. Just try to forget about it. Then, maybe, it'll come as a nice surprise when it's released. This is what I should have done all along.

Fuck the ultimatum. It never had any value in the first place, and all it has done it cause trouble and make things worse. From now on, I'm going to change my attitude, and respect Mike and Marcus's decision to release the album when they feel it's finally ready.

Best 53 seconds of anything BOC has ever made IMO. the bitcrushiness... the massive KKSSHAAOWWW every few bars... the air raid siren thing... the fact that it's the longest and most interesting drum pattern in their whole catalogue.. jizz.
Carcan

I did search, and I don't think this has been mentioned.

In the track Carcan (BOC Maxima/AFOT), the drumbeat is exactly the same as in Nlogax, and if you listen quite carefully near the end you can actually hear the little bit of synth in Nlogax at the beginning.

I'm almost certain that they've just layered the tune of Carcan to the beginning of Nlogax. Am I right? Am I wrong? Does this not count as a topic?

weird BoC dream

I had the weirdest dream last night. I was with a girl at the park I used to play at as a kid..I think her name was Tammy? Anyway, I think in this dream I had a crush on her for years, and she was finally starting to like me, so we took a walk holding hands. I think we went for a walk...it was summer, but there was a cool breeze in the air, and I remember in the dream feeling the wind pass between our fingers. Then she walks me over to some bushes and asks me if I want to have sex with her. I agree, this was the dream moment I had been waiting for for years. So we start the foreplay, Im stroking and kissing her nipples, caressing her legs with the utmost care, and start gently stroking the area between her stomach and her love parts. It tickles her, she laughs, and then slowly takes her pants off. I turn around to apply condom, as I am fully boned and do not want a venereal disease. Once the condom was applied, I turned around, ready to attack her. With her legs spread open, there was some sort of jaw-like protrusion in her vagina. I edge closer....teeth? Yes, teeth. Just as I realize what horrible creature has been lain before me, the vagina begins to make loud, watery belches, and clear fluid starts leaking out of it, as if it was flooding with some sort of drain cleaning liquid. Then she starts to scream, I plead with her, calm down!, I will get help!....she continues to scream...all of a sudden her rectum prolapses, and some sort of large maggot-like creature edges out of her rear. Dumbfounded, I can only sit and watch with my mouth agape as the maggot spreads its slimy appendages (wings? surely not) and makes a running dash into the air, gliding away in the afternoon sun over the park. The Color of the Fire was the soundtrack to this surreal moment.
