someone from the show has made some threads on here since I posted about the show some time in august, and yesterday they posted some info about this:

in the upcoming second part of the first episode they will play a track by Sean Booth called Horizon

Quote

31:44 Sean Booth 'Horizon', 2004 (20 min)
'Horizon' is a generative piece composed in the BBC BASIC programming language. It was composed for the rand()% generative internet radio station in 2004 but was never broadcast. The aim of the piece was to use as little code as possible and be interesting enough to hold the attention.

Happiness, sadness, wonder, contentment-- so many things, it just amazes me.

Basscadet on Mighty Force records

According to Wikipedia, Basscadet was released in a more basic form as a 12" on Mighty Force records.

However, I haven't heard or seen a disc or even found a catalog number for this release.

So, does this even exist or does Wikipedia have the wrong info.?

Autechre wiki

Hey.

I'm new here - been lurking for some time on this forum, loved it and so tonight I decided to sign up.
I'm writing this to let you know about a little idea I had, and honestly I believe this is the only board I know where someone could be interested in what I'm going to say now.
Basically, a few days ago I was thinking that there's quite a lot of info about Autechre that needs to be put in some kind of archive - interview links, live sets info / mp3s, pics, found newsgroup messages, chat logs and so on. I've seen this forum already has plenty of stuff actually, but I think it would be cool to organize everything in one big place, with categories, stuff listed in chronological order etc, but most of all, with the ability to edit stuff easily. Well, basically a wiki.
Of course, in order to create and maintain a wiki, collaboration is the key. I've seen some real hardcore Ae fans on this board who may be interested in this project, and that's why I'm posting about it here.
Some days ago I got this domain: http://vletr.mx. I set up a vanilla MediaWiki install and so far it's almost completely empty.
Now, I have web programming experience and can handle the technical side, but, as for the rest, of course the content should be the result of collaborative work - that's the point of a wiki after all.
So, here's my question: what do you think about this? I want to make it clear I'm not posting this thread in order to spam the website or something, I just want to get feedback on this idea and, if it's any good, to start this project with the help of anyone interested into it.

Well, looking forward to hearing your ideas and opinions about this. Thanks!

Recent Autechre Live Performances

So I've been following Sean and Rob for years, I got pretty much all their releases (Incunabula, LP5, Confield and Gantz Graf being my personal favourites) and I got the chance to catch em live pretty soon for the first time.
I just wonder what their live performances are like these days and if there are any samples available.
I guess they don't make live versions/jams of Oversteps/Move of Ten tracks (by the way I couldn't really get into Oversteps but I DID like Move of Ten much more) and surely not older stuff?
So I guess they just improvise with original, unreleased sound material every time using MAX and/or their own software each time? And if so, does that fall into the nearly beatless Oversteps territory or what? Thanks alot.

The Oversteps Set

So how do people feel about the live set a few months down the line??

Got mixed feelings about it, there's a few moments in it that i absolutely love, but ultimately it's pretty weak in comparison to the previous two. There's too many points in it where things seem to be really rockin but then peter out and stay on a tangent for 4-5 mins. Take 5:05 in to the Domino set for instance. Awesome build-up to it, but then wanders for almost 3 minutes. There's barely anything from 10:00 to 20:00 mins that i'd pushed to listen to twice. The pounding 4/4 track @ 32:13 is sick, but apart from that there's little in the set that's particularly memorable. The main thing that gets me is that throughout out most of it we can hear some pretty tasty melodic sounds hidden in the background.....the problem being, well, they're hidden. There's a lot of cool percussive sounds in there that i'd like to hear more of on their studio releases, but more often than not, it sounds like there's about four different patterns playing at once, with two of them changing almost every single bar (bit of an exaggeration maybe, but either way it's hectic to fuck), so at many points it's impossible to soak up what's going on.

Conclusion: For a pair of guys that can come up with the some of the most cutting edge electronic music out there, they really sell themselves short with a set like that. And just to add a further two cents, i absolutely love their approach to percussion, but to me it's all about their melodies....undoubtedly. Hence the reason i've only listened to "Etchogon-7" twice the whole way through, and am still listening to "Nil" almost 9 years after first having heard it.
