I am going finally going to see Stars of the Lid live this September after missing their performance back in 2007.

Brace yourselves: Stars of the Lid will have their own Boiler Room set!

Shit had no idea stars of the lid were active again. Got those vinyl represses last week and they've been on near constant rotation ever since. Hope they make it to the UK at some point.

So I saw their live performance Saturday night. That was sublime. Expect nothing less. The sound system could not handle the bass though.

^ Love that album.

I've been playing this 3-hour mix by SND over 10 times the last week. Helped me through a lot of work. Described as non-rhythmic tonal music instead of ambient.

I listened to this for 3 years i guess. Not every day but every week certainly. At work too.

how about biosphere and pete namlook?

WOAH BIOSHPHERE AND PETE NAMLOOK MADE MUSIC TOGETHER!?

Can't tell if serious....but yes, and both of the albums are really good :)

As is just about everything Pete Namlook did - his collab with Higher Intelligence Agency is also really good.

Gotta give a shout out to this guy, who's a recent discovery for me: https://stabilo-loadbang.bandcamp.com/

All pay what you want.

Cool runnings mon.

That's the thing with Namlook - his discog is immense, and it's 99% wonderful.

It's like Uwe Schmidt, who I just discoverd did an album with Tetsu Inoue and Bill Laswell called "Second Nature".

Oh and there's another Namlook collab that's amazing - his work with Tetsu Inoue. Shades of Orion, 2350 Broadway, Time2, and 62 Eulengasse. Time2 is a little weaker, but the other stuff is mmm good. Especially 2350 Broadway II and 62 Eulengasse. Wonderful wonderful ambience.

Those of you who like ambient music and use Spotify might find this interesting.

https://open.spotify.com/user/derelic7/playlist/3C0M3MgLwiyZII5WMGneas

It's my playlist of deep, mellow and droney ambient, highly suitable for late listening, relaxation or sleeping. Most ambient playlists or webradios out there are utterly idiotic for this purpose as they're filled with annoying stuff. I work hard to avoid rhythmic, too active, treble heavy and otherwise obtrusive pieces, as well as new agey McAmbient or uninteresting cheesy stuff. It's a great list to put on after a hard days work, if you're feeling stressed, have a bit of insomnia, or just really enjoy ambient music.

It goes without saying that a premium account is essential to enjoy the experience without ads, and I highly recommend lowering higher frequencies using Spotify's built-in EQ, as well as making use of the crossfade function (5 seconds or so). The list isn't particularly sorted for variation so shuffle playing works best.

Currently there are close to 300 tracks clocking in at 60 hours. There is a healthy mix of minimal drones, spacey stuff, organic sounds, some woodwinds, and a dash of filtered white noise. I frequently add music and try to refine the list, so give it a go and let me know what you think. I'll happily take suggestions on what to add as well.

Curtains Blowing off the John Foxx & H Budd Translucence lp came on in a mix out in mate's motor earlier. No audio link sorry.

It never fails & @ around 3mins is instant re-e-wind-worthy & something beyond serene/wtf is that
