the data knob does not work but otherwise it functions perfectly and is in good condition physically.

can some 1 tell me how important the data knob is to even use this machine lol cuz itd be nice 2 know that

lol I'd guess it's the equivalent of buying a car with a non-functioning accelerator pedal. :D

I'm sure it's fixable though. I'd love to play around with a hardware sampler at some point. Seems like it could be a lot of fun.

'Seems' is definitely the right word lol. I got an Akai S2000 and haven't really managed to use it yet. To be honest its kinda a pain in the ass to use. I did try sampling some stuff with it but it just kept freezing. I'm gonna try getting some samples on there but its really not easy at all to be honest!

an S2000, with a two line old-school LCD display = not fun, even when the sampler is working properly (yours sounds like it isn't since it's freezing [also i know because i trained on one in college])

S5000/S6000 with a massive 320x240 full graphic display = absolute dream to use (i know, i had one)

ya I'm sure it's a totally different beast. The detachable display looks rad as well.
