eh its the ultimate tribute to grind and tex avery?

the last 30 seconds are the scariest bit of music in the world

edit: my previous post wasn't referring specifically to your post, moreso that a lot of what patton ddoes now seems to be crooning/scary death metal voice/box of vocal processing magic stuff

Yeah, the Drift is scarier than pretty much any metal.

^In which Dolan rapes and murders his nephews

Unification of Trey Spruance/Mike Patton/Metal spheres for old tymes' sake:

I love this song

i wasn't looking for anything "scary", if anything I think metal is goofy and cheesy. i wanted something to rock out to. and mathy heavy stuff is nice. i got what i came here for. you guys can talk about prog or mike patton or whatever that stuff is sorta cool with me.

it's really cool to like sleep now.

but that's because they're fucking amazing.

it's a song about getting high as shit and riding dragons. there is absolutely nothing to dislike.

Is it cooler to like Sleep or Electric Wizard nowadays?

It's a close run race.

There's a music venue near where I work, and on my way by getting coffee about a year ago, I looked at the listing of shows and saw something roughly like

Plain White Tees
Black Eyed Peas
Dane Cook
SLEEP
Creed
Another Terrible Comedian
Rebecca Black and Friends
Jonas Brothers

and I had to read it about 30 times
and I said, fuck yeah, SLEEP
and everyone looked at me with confusion and disgust

and then I forgot to buy tickets

every time i hear the name electric wizard i think about a big floppy baggy vagina. so sleep have the upper hand, in that they make me think about something i like.

I think Sleep have the benefit of being basically deceased and everyone loving Holy Mountain and Jerusalem/Dopesmoker, whilst Electric Wizard keep releasing increasingly poorly received albums and have a reasonably attractive woman-type-person in their lineup which undoubtedly makes the troo unwashed stoner types too nervous

i actually prefer holy mountain to dopesmoker. but i prefer om's stuff to both.

ESPECIALLY this, oh fuck yes

edit: om understand the transcendental power that a riff can have if you just repeat it for long enough. sleep did too. electric wizard... not so much.

edit: BONUS because i'm listening to it. dat riff

i was never blown away by meshuggah, sure its technical but sometimes i miss the soul
check out Nile - In their darkened shrines, that album destroys everything and has everything u want

One of the best death metal songs around. Also listen to this:

Karl loves him some Candlemass (and this isn't the only CM inspired riff you'll find buried in Nile albums)
