Fans, eh? Crazy.

Tempo is rising - opponents getting low
According to all sources, Anfield's the place to go
Cause tonight for the first time
Just about half-past ten
For the first time in history
It's gonna be Brendan

It's Brendan Rodgers! Hallelujah! - Brendan Rodgers! Amen!
We're gonna go out, let our pass and move flow, and ab-so-lute-ly run this shooooow
It's Brendan Rodgers! Hallelujah! - Brendan Rodgers! Amen!
Tall, brown, dark and lean
He's rough and tough and strong and mean

God bless Brendan Rodgers, he's a single minded man
He took our play to heaven and he did what he can
He taught us every angle, to rearrange our play
So that each and every player could find the perfect goal
It's Brendan Rodgers! Hallelujah! - Brendan Rodgers! Amen!
It's Brendan Rodgers! Hallelujah! - Brendan Rodgers! Amen!
It's Brendan Rodgers! Hallelujah! - Brendan Rodgers! Amen!
It's Brendan Rodgers! Hallelujah! - Brendan Rodgers! Amen!

as a neutral thought Rogers was unlucky, 1st the Suarez debacle, then Gerrard's last minute slip when they came oh so close to the title, then the whole hoo-hah over Gerrard leaving, effectively culling their 2 best players when they needed them most & when Rogers needed squad stability

compared to what he was up against with the budgets of fellow competitors, thought he did as well as could be realistically expected

now Klopp has had the whole Coutinho soap opera rumbling over the summer, similar patterns of Spanish clubs poaching the PL's best players aka British clubs are "selling clubs", first to the Italians, then when certain Inglan players went to France (ok Waddle & Dorigo arent a pattern) but then Spain for the last couple of decades....it never ends well although Spurs have shown how to re-invest transfer money successfully re-Bale's fee getting spread around thoughtfully

the cosmic alignments & market for players has really hammered Liverpool over the last few years, granted buying Balotelli was just plain fkn thick, but its always good to have a powerhouse outside of London & Manchester, for the plain sake of purely competitive reasons & from loathing for the Chelskis & Citehs of this world

as for Brendan, Celtic are my family's club, think they'd be a much better addition to the PL than the likes of the Nigels @ C-Palace & other yo-yo flotsam that dont even try and get the ball down & play....would draw huge crowds + Anglo-Saxon scum would have the joys of negotiating awaydays in Glaswegian environs @ best ill-suited to the health & welfare of their supporters, complete brucie bonus all round!

if the Swans me own beloved Cardiff can play in an "English" division, why not a Scottish giant?

anyway, its friday + an early finish = Volcano time

everyone seems to be creaming themselves over that Spurs performance, but I don't think they were actually that good, Liverpool were just shocking defensively, we handed it to them. Spurs were pretty good at the back though at least, because we controlled the game and created some good chances, two great saves from Loris; but the talk that they're going to compete with City now is a bit premature to put it mildly, City look nailed on walk away with the league now. We'll certainly claw back those three points in the return game as well.

im certainly not creaming over our performance but given that we had a midweek game at the bernabeu and dug out a draw and then can ease past scousers without playing that well.... i'll take it. was upset when klopp hauled off spurs best player but we kept out cool

Another masterpiece by klopp

In the summer VVD was the only defender on the market it seems, why was klopp so obsessed with VVD? Liverpool knew VVD wasnt coming very early in the window, they had time to get another solid defender.

The summer transfer window was a shambles, first drag the coutinio saga(a player they can live without) , then buy the ox for 40m when you need defenders

Summer window wasn't a shambles at all, we did well in all positions except centre back. We'll try again for VVD in a few months, he'll hand in another transfer request, if they don't budge this time we really need to look elsewhere though. We're still in a decent position in the league re finishing in the top 4, looks to me like City and Spurs are pretty well set, Chelsea should be too, but something's not right behind the scenes there (were very lucky to get anything against Watford), so two spots up for play between Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal (outside chance given their EL distractions) and United (who's failure to beat the top sides will be their undoing this season I think). We've only had one season in the CL since Rafa left, and it was an awful showing, I'd be more than happy with an improved display there (which it has been so far) and top four again this season (FA cup would be a nice bonus).

That doesn't make any sense, we have the same centre halves as we had last season, the same problems leaking seemingly easily preventable goals, yet we still finished in the top four, what's stopping us doing the same again exactly?

We improved the overall squad strength in the summer (so we should have no problem handling the extra CL games), our full-back situation is very good now with a fit Gomez and Moreno playing much better (as I correctly predicted last season), and we still have Clyne to come back and TAA is looking good (if not quite ready for the big games), Salah was a great signing (relieves the pressure we had on Mané), Chamberlain is a good squad player to have as well (if a bit expensive for such a role, but that's what the market is now I guess). Solanke looks like a very promising singing, we still have Lallana to come back, and Ings is there too, so we have lots of strength in depth all over the squad. All we really need is a top quality starting centre back to play beside Matip, I wouldn't even be in a big rush to replace Mignolet, he might have been at fault for one of the goals yesterday, but it was his only mistake of the season, he's been in fine form since he came back into the team last season. If we could get someone better next summer we should go for it, but no point in taking a risk on someone who might be better, or some young up and comer.

Have our rivals improved things so much in their own squads that my view seems completely implausible? Obviously not, Chelsea don't look anywhere near as good for some reason (Morata was a good replacement for Costa, but they look quite shaky at the back (leaking goals at home), Alonso - one of the league's best players last season, looks out of sorts in particular, was a big part of their attack last season). Arsenal didn't do much at all, and still seem as inconsistent. United had a good start to the season, but they also had the easiest run of fixtures of any side in last season's top-6, and now that they've been put under a bit of pressure and have just a couple of injuries, they look quite ropey, also Lukaku doesn't seem to have improved since Everton, can turn it on against the lesser sides, goes missing against the better teams (especially with Mourinho's negative tactics leaving him isolated), they're more likely to finish top four this season than last, but it's not nailed on.

There was a mad stat in the game yesterday, we have the 2nd best home defensive record, only conceded 1 goal, United have conceded none; but the worst away defensive record in the league with 15 conceded. The good thing with such an obvious problem is that it should be a lot easier to fix, it would be hard for us do much worse. Our home record under Klopp is great since he arrived, away it's been very up and down, but we have had periods of better results, if we can get a proper defender in there in January hopefully we can finally get some consistency, if we'd had that from the start of the season we'd be challenging for the title, without it we still have a good chance of top four.
