It's freaking beautiful, I haven't heard anything else that fits a summer afternoon as well as this album, each track has got an immense warmth to it, it's relaxing yet emotional, like the laid-back brother of Geogaddi. These are some other, more strictly ambient albums that I would say are even more sunny, overall, than Dropsonde. You can't go wrong with Chihei Hatakeyama for sunny ambient jams. I didn't know that album, I only know Plume which is beautiful as well, and kind of sad, too. Loscil hase some, the majority is only soundscapes, which is fine, but it's a bit hard to work while listening to this! We're currently setting up a kind of exhibition at art school, everyone's working like mad and running all over the place, painting walls and doing several things at once - but during the multiple times I played Dropsonde there over my stereo, the whole mood seemed to change, people started to calm down, get more focused . I don't think people even noticed the music consciously, but it's a beautiful sun-lit building near the river, and Dropsonde really does something to the mood! If beats and a bit more percussive rhythm or higher tempo is what you're after I'd recommend Helios or maybe Ulrich Schnauss or Tycho. Lusine and Apparat come to mind too.
