Having a break

I have just realised I've not listened to any 'chre for about 6 weeks now.

Partly because we are decorating downstairs of the house and most of my music in inaccessible plus the stereo isn't plugged in.... But also because I think it is healthy for my enjoyment of their music to have an enforced break every now and then.

Anyone else ever do this? The longer the break, the bigger the anticipation and the explosion of my mind when I have a vinyl binge on them sometime soon!

Sorry if jazz thread, search couldn't find one.....

I never really listened to Autechre.. imagine my headxplosion!

But I get where you are coming from. I was heavily into RDJ stuff, and just grew sick off it after a while. OD'ing on anything isn't good.

I find listening to Absolute Radio 80's at work all day a good enough break.

Having "Too shy, shy, hush, hush, eye-to-eye" stuck in your head, getting home afterwork and listening to LCC or Pen Expers seems to right the balance again.

Same. I'm either in Autechre mode or out, unlike AFX or BOC which I constantly trip along nicely too. I can have zero tolerance breaks for a few months. But when I get back into it, I can play a couple of hours of stuff everyday for a long time. Autechre sounds always re polished, fresh and more vital after a break.

I've been on Autechre abstinence for a few months now...

Same, man. Although for the past few weeks, it's been a daily thing, a couple of days in a row I listened to their discog somehow.

when i'm into autechre i don't listen to afx. they're kind of opposite to me. the last 10 yrs i have cycles of 2 yrs of autechre then 1 month of afx (beethoven all the time). beethoven is keeping me in the equilibrium.

i really don't know what would i listen to if there's no autechre (of electronic music). god bless them!

I go through phases. I've been listening to a whole lot of metal lately, but ae is sneaking back into my listening habits. I haven't listened to Exai in full almost since it came out.. but I feel the time is coming to give it a play again.

I do not listen to ae if there is nothing freshly released from them. Strangely re-listenings to the previous stuff never gave me anything substantially new, no turnarounds. On my computer i even deleted everything up until Confield recently.

ru sirius?!

Yes, that's my home. I like most of it, but not a single change of heart or notice of a new detail, nothing. Contrary to the trademark scenario. I didn't grow negative towards something initially likable either, which is a typical scenario for me with other musics.

Yea that just sounds crazy

I'm all for taking self imposed breaks just for fun, like I didn't listen to Confield for over a year just so I could put it in and lose my mind

But I never get sick of it, or feel like there's no need to relisten to it

Don't think I've ever taken a proper autechre break since getting into them, they've just produced such a vast bounty of awesomeness over the years that I find impossibru to get tired of... early stuff, mid period stuff, newer stuff, remixes, radio mixes,dj mixes, fucking GESCOM

didn't he do that threesome porno "tri repetae?"

didn't he refuse to bend a girl over and wouldn't sign a contract without this "untilted" clause?

didn't he write a memoir about contracting an std "sickly suite"?

also, isn't he called Dickly Sweet?

I heard his member has many purple envanes

Didn't he do a porn about a sexy slot machine called "laughing quarter?"

His first one was "Incunadbula" correct?

He really crossed the line when he did that porno "krib" fucking perv

I do tend to listen to more Autechre from October - March. Mostly commuting and then when it is dark in the evenings. Also more wintery, at least to the extent Southern California has winter.

Oversteps has a little bit more of a daylight/summery vibe so that one will probably get heavier rotation.

Yeah I have to be in a certain mood to listen to ae. I usually have a break from ae in the Summer - and return to them when it starts to get cold around Autumn onwards. Their music is definitely seasonal for me. I know that sounds strange to some, but I just can't bring myself to play something off Exai on a cloudless sunny day.
