OK, based on the suggestions in the thread discussing which charity should benefit from the proceeds of the Ebay auction of CAT023, please vote in the attached poll - the poll will be open until 31 May, so that should be plenty of time to narrow it down to a charity the majority can agree upon.

The charities chosen were based on their international natures, if anyone was wondering why some suggested charities were not listed.

Please click the links provided for more information on each charity.

Update: Added Greenpeace per GWC's request!

I have to be honest I'm not really sure, I'm not really clued up on stuff like this.

One thing that I do however cherish is my childhood, it wasn't perfect but it is something I hold dear. And something I think effects an individual for decades to come. So I'm going for War Child or Unicef. I feel sorry for kids who's life has been proper fucked up.

First they cause the war, then their wives run the charities that buy tents to accommodate and indoctrinate the victimized children of that war. Didn't i suggest some owl charity in devon, why isn't it on there? Maybe i forgot to put the link in my post damnit. nwae, i'm not voting for any of those spy filled money vampires. Sorry if this post gives anyone an upset stomach/ruins their halo buzz.

Nobody gives a hoot about your owl charity, Delet... :emotawesomepm9:

Seriously though - again, the charities were chosen due to their international reach and nature. While some might think it, Devon (or the owls of Devon) do not, in fact represent the world.

Joy, we are giving such a small amount of money to the charity that this tiny donation would have a large impact on a small organisation run exclusively by volunteers. Whereas it would be lost in the vast machinery of the organisations that you have listed.

Nice pun though, my heart was in a right flap over it. (2nd attempt at a pun after an edit and it still doesn't sound right, ar well, brain not withit today)

personally i believe cancer research should be there! however voted for wwf

I saw you mentioned cancer research in the original thread, but you never provided any links to a cancer research charity! Preferably an international one and not just national or local.

I see your point on that - then you get folks who complain about how the chosen charity doesn't solve any real problems, etc.

It's the Devon Owl Charity Conundrum.

If people don't see an owl with a broken wing due to an unexpected encounter with a moving vehicle as a real problem, there's no hope for humanity. heh.

A few good charities there, and a few not so good ones...

I'm voting WWF because it has the backing of David Attenborough. But Doctors Without Borders and WaterAid do some amazing work too.

Lol at delet...'s owl rant. I love owls a lot myself, and donkeys and I'm also particularly fond of hedgehogs. Lovely creatures (though I wouldn't want one in my sleeping bag)

This is the type of thing my moaning has been based on. If you look hard enough (and you usually don't have to dig that deeply) all of these mega charities are tainted entities. Thanks for posting the links.

I don't know, a donkey in my sleeping bag might be fun. heeh. (lolz at the visuals that thinking about it brings (there's an owl in the tree above us with a quizzical expression on it's face 'hoo'.))
