its a bit Tricky this, like when it kicks in. if its all like this them i'm already bored and out.

yeah, a little bit. i'm fine with there being a couple sludge hop tracks on here, but please have at least 4 stott signature chuggers

i'm sure he will but hopefully not the same formula, nothing wrong with it, but a new album is new.

People didn't like Luxury Problems? Jesus.

I don't know, the vocals were pretty stiff and drab sounding for the most part. I'm not surprised a fair amount of people think it was ok, including myself. Could've been better, though could've been worse I suppose...

im so excited for this. cant find any place to preorder this though. anyone?

Well it's a Boomkat affiliated label so they'll be the first to have it available I bet, probably still too early.

Really liking the sound and atmosphere of Violence, glad it's not another knackered house number

hmmm good single! I'm not that familiar with Andy Stott but I remember him talking about his recent approach on distortion in a recent interview when the Millie & Andrea album came out. I guess this track reflects that because it has a lot of distortion compared to his previous albums. Which is pretty cool.

I think a certain percentage of watmm don't like music with vocals on. I've read that a few times on here. Each to their own I guess. So I think that's probably what put some people off Luxury Problems.

Just saw him last night, had a chance to talk to him and Miles and Sean before the show, as they were just very chill and sitting outside the venue psyching themselves out. Millie (Miles) and Andrea (Andy) had probably the best set, Miles and Sean were good too. Once AS took the stage, the system's bass went into MAX mode and it was not unlike torture. He played "Violence" with some jungle cuts over it in parts.

What he did mostly was slow jungle with trap hihats over it, no lie, and he even had a few minutes of gabber. He did not play a single second of released material, so I didn't get to see classic 2012 Andy Stott, but was still cool.

Here is a clip:

The best part of the night was when I first got there after the doors opened. The place was empty and Andy Stott was on stage playing one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, just kind of warming up or something.

  • 3 weeks later...

Giving this album it's first spin now, and with the rain pouring outside and autumn killing summer it fits perfectly. A natural progression from Lux and the Ep's. Starts of really slow and soft, but gets harsher as the record moves on. He's really pushing the distortion this time, maybe a bit much for my taste, but I only have 320 mp3, så look forward to FLAC's. The vocalist from Lux is still used here and I love the interplay between the distorted music and the soft pretty voice.

I have a feeling this will be played a lot in the coming months!
