From Thom & Nigel:

"As an experiment we are using a new version of BitTorrent to distribute a new Thom Yorke record.

The new Torrent files have a pay gate to access a bundle of files..

The files can be anything, but in this case is an 'album'.

It’s an experiment to see if the mechanics of the system are something that the general public can get its head around...

If it works well it could be an effective way of handing some control of internet commerce back to people who are creating the work.

Enabling those people who make either music, video or any other kind of digital content to sell it themselves.

Bypassing the self elected gate-keepers.

If it works anyone can do this exactly as we have done.

The torrent mechanism does not require any server uploading or hosting costs or ‘cloud’ malarkey.

It's a self-contained embeddable shop front...

The network not only carries the traffic, it also hosts the file. The file is in the network.

Oh yes and it's called

Tomorrow's Modern Boxes.

Thom Yorke & Nigel Godrich"

Can't wait to hear if Thom Yorks solo work has evolved into something even more dry sounding

lol yeh.

But… my choices to buy are mp3 + video only, vs. full shebang jazzmatazz edition? What about lossless files only PLZ

Just gave it a play.

I always have low expectations for Thom Yorke solo stuff cause he is an amazingly talented singer/songwriter and a mediocre producer/programmer, and his great songs are often obscured behind awkward skittery hi hat patterns and murky reverbs. He is improving though and I quite enjoyed Amok.

So the best stuff for me on this album is the start, plaintive piano/rhodes songs with the later sections boring me a little.

Its also pretty amazing that the man is 45 and with stuff like 'Ingenue' and 'Brain In A Bottle' he can make sexy pop tunes in the vein of FKA Twigs/Grimes without sounding embarrassing.

Yeah really enjoying these tunes. Good fall listening. Tide me over till the new radiohead lp.

It's also just nice to have new stuff drop immediately.

Yeah I'd honestly like releases to be dropped like this. Imagine if Syro had just dropped when it was ready. Oh well, record labels and all.

I am going to listen to this when I get to work. I'm just a bit disappointed that there isn't a CD release and the vinyl is $50.
