I've seen so much praise for Pretend Analog Extmix 2b, but I'm gonna say it'd have to go into my 'Can't Get Into' selection.

What am I missing? Am I alone?

I tend to play the tracks in my 2 hour /day commute to work in a cd in the car. So i never know the names of what i'm becoming familiar with sonically.

I guess this track is very "Aphexy"-lite hence its popularity - electro bass, burbling acid lines, subtle vocally synths. Its poppy and "manageable".

But it too is prob going in my "can't get into" list along with the other two tops ones, Organ 28 and 14 Cornish Spreek5b [st. Nectan S Glen Waterfalls Mix]

They all just seem a bit meh RELATIVELY speaking.

"Dance and Play" still not getting enough love btw!

This is what I was thinking alright. I'm more in the 7z camp than this one.

Incidentally, the new Soundcloud page sucks (unsurprisingly).

This is exactly how I feel about 28 Organ. It has all the more recent Aphex twists n turns but lacks that classic RDJ magic. It just gets a bit meandering and aimless.

Dance And Play is vintage early AFX, much more simplistic than Organ and just a lot more enjoyable. That melody is one that sticks with you.

All of us who do the 10 loved tracks are getting limited vinyl pressings of 1 direct from Richard or so I heard.

PLZ RICHARD

I'd give Richrad my left pinkie toe to have (Throatie) and Phonge [halouminatti mix] on LaserDisc.

Spotify over Bandcamp? Really? I'd rather have my own FLAC copies of the stuff as opposed to an mp3 stream I can only access using ad-filled software.

no promo, but anyone else breaking this dump into 8 to 12 track LPs?

I'm such a fucking nerd about it (making album titles, even), can't listen to anything not sequenced or huge lists of "unrelated" tunes :catrage:

I've got 21 albums split roughly into an album length each.

All are titled "Old Tape XX" with the XX being numbers 1-21.

They are in the chronological order in which they went up on SoundCloud.

Would be rad to divide by era and create albums with proper titles but the geek inside me would struggle using this names as they just wouldn't be canon.

didn't think of this...experiencing the SC drop as a series of unearthed DATs, maybe the Joyrex tape is a great blueprint?

Yeah, exactly. We have AB6 and THE JOYREX TAPE in almost complete form. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if there are overlaps there - but if that cuts off 30 tracks then it's a start.
