LA riots all over again

"When a grand jury decided Monday not to indict Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, the act triggered fresh confrontations between protesters and police in the tense Missouri city.

While most of the protesters were peacefully assembled on the streets of Ferguson, some smashed the windows of a police cruiser and set another on fire.

An entire row of businesses were set ablaze on West Florissant Avenue, a major street -- so many that firefighters weren't able to reach all of them.

Amid the looting and arson, some protesters demanded the media stop reporting on the events. A CNN reporter was struck in the head with a rock."

Police scanners in the area have been going nuts.

was watching someone on ustream livestream from his phone last night, and as he was walking around filming some dude ran up and snatched his phone and ran away with it while it was still streaming. the last thing you could hear before the stream went down was the robber telling someone "it's an iphone 6!".

was very weird. 90k people watching the stream at the time.

As an observer from your friendly northern neighbour, I don't think what happened with Brown even really matters - it was just the spark that lit the shitpile. The whole situation with the police in much of the US seems totally rotten - they are increasingly detached from the communities they supposedly serve, increasingly militarized with increasingly heavy-handed tactics, increasingly unaccountable, increasingly only looking out for themselves. And that's all on top of a legal system that punishes bullshit non-crimes like jaywalking (which is what Brown was stopped for - seriously WTF is with jaywalking?! how the fuck is enforcing that crap in the public interest!?)

Seriously 'Mericuh, sort this shit out!

He robbed a store that's why he was stopped.

Not saying that warrants getting shot 6 times. But ya jaywalking < robbing a store.

or am I wrong? =/

Oh I gotcha... he was stopped for jaywalking but was noticed to be the guy that robbed a store earlier that day. gotcha gotcha sorry.
