New Legowelt EP on the BAKK label (the Hague)

Samples sound really good.. Again... Damnit

Well, at least you have until September to save up.

I think he let something slip about them reissuing Dark Days soon as well in one of the NTS podcasts. I never did get around to buying it on CD but I won't pass up a new physical release whatever the format may be.

I'm on the fence about getting that Smackos vinyl, great album too but again I already paid for the files and given how prolific he is and adding the reissues to the mix, it's going to get to a point where I spend more time buying his stuff than actually listening to it... Case in point, got the Calimex tape sitting here for a week or so already, but still haven't played it even once, summer got in the way.

Unfortunately not! I'm guessing they'll just upload the digitals when the tapes are sold out.

Ta for letting me know. I assume the digitals will be on his bandcamp, same as the other Nightwind releases. I think i'll hold out for that as tapes aren't ideal for my listening habits and would mean double-dipping to get the digitals.

Strange Li Nightwind Records is up and running, another album announced...

Very cool news that Dark Days is getting a repress, I never gave those two albums a lot of attention but some of my favourite Legowelt tracks are on there (Airplanes in the Rain, Furniture, Decay Dream, Lake Distrax...).

Made some time today to catch up with the latest two Nightwind Records releases. Calimex Mental Implant Corp forays into hip hop & house territory and Saab Knutson is old-school Smackos-like in its concept and adherence to it.

I know a ton of people were really into Oberheim Space but if you ask me these are only getting better. The first (OOC) was the most ragged of the bunch, I think I prefer the live show he uploaded of that project to the album itself.

  • 2 weeks later...

The weakest for me is the Loch Ness album, although that's not really a Nightwind release. OOC and Oberheim Space are my faves, maybe because he played a handful of tracks of those albums live a while ago. The Saab Knutson one could really be an old Smackos album on Strange Life, glad to see this style (and his own label) return :) the Calimex one I still haven't heard more than once, going to put it on right now...

Saw the Age of Candy Candy 2x12" in Rush Hour yesterday but for 24 euros it was too much for an album I already have on CD, and I'm still trying to not buy every new release he does... That said, I did find one of my alltime fave Legowelt releases repressed, the House of Jezebel - Love & Happiness 12" so I couldn't resist picking that up :)

ooh nice! Thanks for reminding me I forgot to buy the version with the vocals (love & happiness). I had the instrumental version, but it's way more fun with vocals. ;D

Off to the beatport...

I've not even heard this LP but lawd what a track this is!

:catsupine:

ah, nice find! I hadn't heard of this release either! unfortunately, I can't find it up as a digital release anywhere; I had to acquire it through, uh, other means.

Here's another great track from it:

My first Legowelt album, bought through clone on CDr when it was just released :) still one my my faves of him! You can find quite a bit of the back catalogue of Strange Life (Legowelt's former label, which is almost all him under different names) on bandcamp:

There's a lot of other stuff on that page, Viewlexx, Bunker Records, etc. All stuff from the Hague basically. But Amiga Railroad Adventures is in there too:

Cheers for the links Herr Jan! I'm back form work now and buying the shit out of it and a few other releases of his.

Any idea what his Satomi Taniyama alias is like? the artwork looks like some vaporwave project.

I've also been listening to Franz Falckenhaus' The Lost Border. The last track, Wuppertal Schwebebahn, has a nice Drexciyian vibe about it.. Wolfers is the man! I can't believe the output of this guy. I never thought someone could top Madlib for most pseudonyms haha.

Danny Wolfers still has a ways to go....

I still think Marc Trauner takes the cake: http://www.discogs.com/artist/1156842-Marc-Trauner

Cool to hear btw dumplings / conjugacy, it's for a good cause too :) I think a small part of it will go to keeping Intergalactic.FM in the air (the guy hosting the bandcamp owns IFM, as well as a few labels on that bandcamp). I love the Satomi Taniyama album, the atmosphere on that is incredible. It's mostly old soundtrackish ambient, not that different from his other Strange Life albums maybe.

Well I'm glad the money is going to a good cause. Amiga Railroad Adventures is a gem so far, I don't think I've heard a weak track yet and I'm half way through.. I'm gonna give that Satomi Taniyama album a go after I've divulged and satisfied with ARA.

Looks like Madlib has a ways to go before matching these dudes for the king of characters!

Glad I was here, was a great experience. Even more glad I just found out it has been fully recorded and uploaded for months... Anyway, he just posted the last epic long track on soundcloud:

...AND a new Smackos remix of Diana Est - Tenax too:
