Emotion Wave

I've recently started up a new night in Liverpool after moaning to a mate about how most promoters and venues are only interested in bands or club nights, and how most electronic music doesn't really work in that traditional live setup. So this thing I'm doing is more about getting local electronic producers and listeners together on a bi-monthly or so basis to play in a more relaxed, accessible, friendly atmosphere - rather than the cliquey, chin-scratchy affairs I've attended in the past. It's more akin to an open-mic night in atmosphere, you don't have to dedicate your full attention to the bands, you can chillax and kick back with your mates to a sweet soundtrack of melodic, ambient, idm, instrumental type music.

The next night's on Friday 2nd October at the Well Space - Ive managed to get some really good local artists in for it, plus there'll be DJ sets and visuals going on too. Get down if you can, cheers!

You should mate - the last one was great, nice chilled friendly idm vibes all round. This one will be better too I reckon.

this sounds really cool!

It was/is!

I think having played in various traditional gig environments myself, I've figured out the optimal environment and settings for idm/electronic music - it involves sitting down, sensible volume levels/being able to chit chat and drink alcohol, not too late so people can get the train home, and it also need be free. The hard part is coaxing producers out of their bedrooms. The artists/punters who came to the opening night seem to be returning though, which is a good sign :music:

Just a note to say I'm putting on another Emotion Wave night on in Liverpool - showcasing local electronic talent. It's on Friday 5th February at 81 Renshaw St.

This time around we've got live sets from The Gentle Sex, Mark lawless and Lorentzian - plus DJ sets from Queen Maud. Come on down!

Emotion Wave is back for another night of locally sourced live electronic performances. This time around we have sets from:

Glitchfield Plaines [Romeda Records]
https://glitchfieldplaines.bandcamp.com/

Lo Five [Patterned Air Recordings]
https://lofivemusic.bandcamp.com/

Polypores [Concréte Tapes / Polytechnic Youth]
https://polypores.bandcamp.com/

We also have Fortyonedogs, aka Mike Stanton - host of the excellent Jupiter Room show manning the decks/laptop/USB stick.

Doors open at 8pm so get down to 81 Renshaw handy to catch all the live sets. It's £3 on the door to cover running costs - which, needless to say, is extremely good value for money.

^ Beat me to it. Looking forward to this one, it's going to be dark and intense, like the Tech Noir off Terminator.

Still working on my set, I was going to tone it down a little but since you're saying stuff like this, I might have to kick it back up a notch  :catrecline:

I just said that to make it sound exciting - I literally have no idea what I'm talking about.
