Sounds like you're trying to upgrade to something 'above' Ableton Suite (of which there is no such thing!). Log in to your account on the Ableton site and under the account page you should find a drop down menu selecting your OS of the version of Ableton 9.5 you want to download

The new Simpler is fucking fantastic. I recorded a little jam from the bass guitar, but also gave it a lot of pronounced percussive bits, string scrapes, shit like that. Whack that into the Splicer within Sampler and you can jam out some very cool riffs that go way beyond your ability on another instrument, yet still have that 'live/real' sound. It's also fully integrated into Push 1 too.

The filters sound fucking great, the overdrive is lovely. Turned some violins into what sounds more like a synth pad.

Really digging this.

Yeah, this is a great update. Couldn't be happier about it. The new filters are lush, the new simpler is super intuitive. Good times.

i love the new simpler. it was always my favorite device in ableton, followed by operator.

resampling sketches is something i do regularly

resampled reinterpretation: https://soundcloud.com/shea-mcgilvray/inlay

the auto slice mode adds a new dimension for me, and the integration of warp is pretty amazing also. i don't care to much about using warp to stay in time as i do using it to achieve textures.

the push 1 seems to integrate really well, but they should add a "convert to simpler" function, like on push 2, if they haven't already.

also, this explains the mpc touch... poor akai.

Being able to *finally* choose VST(i)s with the Push is a change that really should've been there right near the start but so happy it's finally here !

That combined with sticking:

-_PluginAutoPopulateThreshold=-1

in a blank options.txt file (more details here - http://blog.blend.io/post/69523894929/how-to-enable-four-secret-features-in-ableton-live) means every VST is immediately fully mapped to the Push without having to faff around to configure macro assignments. Ace !

If you've the full Suite version also make sure to grab the new version of Max for Live Essentials with three new synths - https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/max-live-essentials/

ps. here's further options.txt tweaks - http://www.heavyweightbass.net/blog/2015/4/22/3qhiboq95w6cihnbgdfoizcymw0hwz

So how do you upgrade to 9.5? It's saying "suite 9 can't be upgraded any further" but i'm still on 9.2.3

same way you upgraded to 9.2.3 it's in your account already. free update.

tried making the options file but Ableton gives me the following errors on opening

"The options file [Options.txt] contains an unknown option ‘-ShowDeviceSlots\’ which will be ignored."

"The options file [Options.txt] contains an unknown option ‘-EnableMapToSiblings\’ which will be ignored."

"The options file [Options.txt] contains an unknown option ‘-EnableArmOnSelection\’ which will be ignored."

It then gives me a black screen (although my push still responds)

Any ideas?

EDIT: The auto populate works. But none of the other suggestions do.

Nevermind. Solved it. That was weird.

Was it the '\' symbol it seemed to have added ?

That did confuse me as the original file didn't have it. Anyway, for some reason my .txt files were saving at rich text versions not plain text and that was throwing off some of the commands.

The program itself seems to feel a bit more sturdy right?

Haven't played around enough with the Simpler yet

yes it really does.

also, the auto color thing seems really obvious, but it's SO much better. no one wants to set that stuff manually as it kills the flow. that said, i wonder if there is a way to make each column do shades of its own color, so you can still easily tell clips apart on the push

Ah yeah IIRC new lines in .rtf files append the code '\n' so that might explain where that addition came from.

anyone know if the new Push has any added functionality with playing/controlling hardware?

saw the old Push seemed to be capable, but wondering if they've made any changes on that front?
