FOOTWORK

We already have this thread with a pretty negative title and this other thread, but not a proper Footwork general thread. So yeah, a thread for

posting old + new tracks

sharing your stash of RP Boo unreleased tracks

posting vids of dudes actually dancing to this stuff

complaining that you still don't get it / footwork is shit

and most of all

asking for track IDs (the eternal struggle)

Comes in to ruin thread. ;-p

Hah, lol Spanish, carry on.

well you know how it goes... you ask for recs nobody cares, you say footwork is shit a dozen people come up trying to prove you wrong... that's the internet way, so ruin away

also thx for the rec Ivan, didn't know about that album. That's what I like about footwork, it blends with pretty much anything, it's like a foundation you can throw shit on top of and end up with really cool stuff

I used to hate it, and then I heard some good stuff and have really warmed to it. It's kinda sneaking in to my own tracks; I love that typical footwork bassdrum pattern!

What's some good minimalist footwork? I heard some at a party once and it was amazing, forgot to soundhound it though!

wISH THEY'D tune those samples sometimes....reminds me of drum and bass in the 90s....ffing tune them! or will that lose the essence...the charm?

sub...808....i suppose its a functional genre for dancing right? Mike P is the Diplo of idm....he appropriate that shit....

how much of this music is lost in translation without hearing through the speakers and just on headphones? like listening to dubstep for the first time on apple earplugs and wondering wtf

I'm so glad he didn't OD back in the day, he was a guitar God when I was in high school.

Been sleeping on this thread, can't believe I haven't posted yet. Been digging a lot of comps from overseas lately, big scenes in East Europe and Japan.

EQ Why has been one of my favorite producers lately, his new EP is excellent.

Two producers besides JLin I've dug are from Japan, heard them via tape label Orange Milk, really experimental stuff

y'all hear footwork make it to the mainstream? Heard this on the local pop station tonight. It's certainly not a pure strain but the double time tempos, pitch fuckery on the vocals, use of repetition...couldn't really exist without it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTyN-DB_v5M

There's a heavy dose of future bass / post-dubstep / etc there too - the same scene Disclosure came out of but went more house-y

It's hard to tell who is influenced by what these days
