EPL 2016-2017

a bit of damp squib that, much like the rest of the weekend's football. United's most Mourinho-like display so far. losing Lallana and Wijnaldum definitely had an impact, Can wasn't able to train all week and it showed in his first start of the season, though he improved a bit in the second half, did really well to work that chance. great effort from Coutinho too, De Gea was the difference in the end. Pogba was shit again, Ibrahimovic did nothing aside from a shit attempt at a header. in the end the point is better for us, given the fixtures and how things have gone so far.

Small club mentality.

no, that would be settling for 35% possession (the lowest ever recorded for a United team since OPTA started keeping track).

Really? you settle for a point at home against your most hated rival and the best you can come up with is "35% possession"?

You're starting to slip.

There was only one team trying to win that game, was no settling for a point, but it'll do after the fact. we're still ahead of you in the league and I reckon that's where we'll stay.

Pfft please, we had the best chance of the match easily. Ibra should have put it away. We pressed you high in the first half and it wasn't until Lallana came on that you lot had any real intent going forward.

You're 3 points up and it's not even a quarter of the way through the season. You can reckon all you like, at the end of the season, we'll have more silverware than you and you'll probably be 7th again.  I'll wager Everton finishes above you as well.

United should have stuck to the small club mentality that worked for them so well on Monday, though the early goal probably forced them to open up. They played far too high up the pitch, Chelsea found it so easy to find space. Shaping up for a tasty title race, 5 teams at the top now, only a point between them all.

That's a LOL...only thing that brightened up my football day.

Still only 6 points between first and us, not really a lot this early in the season. A shite defeat, but these things happen.

Gutted about Bailly being injured, it's worse than the loss.

Mourinho will fail @ Utd, most of football wants him to more than Utd as a club, even if its unsaid/rooted in envy & especially after his exit from Chelsea it would go against his self-declared record of achievement - its more when than if imho, narratives in the media, toxic mix, the next few months might decide quite a bit @ Old Trafford

every club has wobbles, but after so much success is excellence @ Utd sustainable when so much £$£ has flooded in since Chelski n the high-rolling juntas polluted things?

if they threw £x @ Poch, would he even want it, also underpinned by statto theory that Koeman going somewhere significant (no offense Everton) b4 too long, have 2 have a nose @ the odds w/that

good article in the guardian about falling viewers, although its slightly hysterical of a tipping point for the game as a whole

Enjoy it while you can.

I don't think most United fans would have thought that four seasons after Ferguson's departure the club would in this sorry state, they might have thought it would take a season or two to adjust maybe. It has been enjoyable though. I think it may continue to be enjoyable for a while more as well, and it might even get a lot worse. United cannot continue to fail given the amount of money they're pouring into the squad (currently the most expensive squad in world football), and given their level of debt, the current lack of success is not sustainable. The league is far more competitive now than it was during most of Ferguson's reign as well, there really are no guarantees it's going to improve.

yes, I'm the one who's delusional, not the guy who supports the team that was just beaten 4-0 by a team who was beaten 2-1 at home by Liverpool, who are six points higher in the table than them and have scored 7 more goals already this season, despite the other, shitter, team having spent the budget of a small country on new players. rolleyes.gif
