Millennium Gallery, Sheffield UK

8pm - 1am, Fri 17th November 2016

An extra special Algorave at Millennium Gallery Live Lates, teaming up with Sheffield's brand new ALGOMECH festival + DANGERNOISE audio, to bring together top algorithmic and mechanical dance music producers and visualists from around the world.

"The scene at an algorave is often what you'd expect from any good techno night - a dark room, engaging visuals. a decent, bass-heavy speaker set-up, and lots of people ready to dance. .. performers at algoraves respond to each other and the audience in real time, often projecting the lines of code onto the walls as they type. lt’s coding as improvisation and experiment.." - The Wire magazine

Heavy line-up emerging:

Renick Bell (uiq/uk) - bringing his Fractal Beats sound from Tokyo.. His forward-thinking take on algorave can be heard on this mix: https://dotheastralplane.com/2016/06/30/renick-bell-mix-for-the-astral-plane/ and upcoming releases on UIQ, Halcyon Veil + Beatgatherers.

AlgoBabez (uk) - Joanne + Shelly from England's North, whose live coded synths+patterns are rocking algoraves around the world -- great apart, better together: 2 babes, 2 laptops and 1 sound.

Lil data (pc music/uk) - the guerrilla live coder amongst the PC Music roster, lil data explores the experimental edge of bedroom techno pop, while muttering about dinosaurs.

Graham Dunning (seagrave/uk) - "Mechanical Techno" from NTS Fractal Meat selector.. If you don't know his phenomenal work, you have to see this:

Kindohm (us) - Kindohm is Mike Hodnick, master of the TidalCycles environment, imporing his melodic, cut up algorithmic techno all the way from Minnesota US, that will feel very much at home in Sheffield.. http://kindohm.com/

Sick Lincoln (uk) - Algorave co-founder returns to the 0s and 1s with some classics and his new autom8 techno generator.

Rituals (uk) is digital artist, livecoder and experimental visualist from Manchester. Dan uses a combination of live coding, video mixing, broken GIFs and glitchy live inputs to create improvised and unpredictable audio-reactive visuals.

Chez.io is here to stimulate your eyes with livecoded visuals from the west country. With over 25 years experience of looking at things, her visuals are completely improvised using Fluxus, often using audio input to make visuals come alive. http://chez.io/

Heaving Lifting - What do you say to the man who wants to make rotten egg [sic]? Good luck. Heavy Lifting is Lucy writing confused live code in TidalCycles.

went to an algorave event in Manchester some months back and had a good time, chatting nerdy shit to people and seeing a new method of music production was quite cool. (Think I caught Rituals there?), hoping to get to the next Manc event. Would love to see the Mechanical Techno thing live, the video is fascinating.

If you want to catch the mechanical techno, Sheffield is only 50 mins away on the train, and the venue is 5 mins walk from the station :)
