Topics I've Started

  1. Got out of creative slump today

    15 June 2010 - 10:05 PM

okay only the first one is new but I found these two old and older tracks and rendered them out too. I don't really know what to think about them.

    smallcurd - hakecake-faded

    smallcurd - loncav

    smallcurd - biisd

EDIT: i had no idea the forum automatically did that
  2. My Gmail account was hacked

    28 May 2010 - 11:36 AM

I logged into my email today and it told me it was temporarily disabled. I got it enabled again via text messege. Then it made me reset the password to something else. All of my contacts had been emailed spam via my account with various links to drugs online types of sites. What else should I do? Is there a way to find out if sensitive emails were read/recorded? Anyone else had this happen?
  3. What linux distribution should I install?

    04 May 2010 - 08:41 PM

    Ubuntu -
pros - easy to use, comes with a lot of shit, packages are all pretty current, I don't really have to think about what I'm doing(until something breaks)

cons - default themes/packages are ugly and fucked up, they fuck with everything and try to do it their way. Too many Ubuntards in the forums.

    Debian
pros - a lot cleaner and straightforward than Ubuntu, very very stable. no compiling necessary, good community, low footprint.

cons - packages are really out of date in the "stable" version, In the past I remember even not being able to find certain less popular packages in the testing versions.

    Gentoo
Pros - portage, so flexible. Great selection of packages, good community.
Cons - take forever to get a base system set up especially when compiling thing on top of thing. If you fuck something up you have to re-compile it the right way, like if you change up your USE flags or something. Lots of upkeeping, easy but time consuming.

    Arch
Pros - best of both debian and gentoo in terms of packages.
cons - never got this set up correctly, actually I think I only got it to boot once. Not sure what was up but it seems a little weird.

This is why linux sucks, something looks promising, but there there is always something fundamentally wrong with how it is implemented. Everything feels incomplete.

    Any other reccomendations?
  4. An album

    09 February 2010 - 12:15 AM

It's not an album in the sense that "these are my latest tracks in a zip". No, this is an album of tracks spanning several years, however, they all share a strong melodic spirit. Please listen if you can.

  5. sync modular

    02 February 2010 - 07:46 AM

This was one of the best modular software synths before it was halted by the developer after he got bought out by NI to re-write reaktor's internals using his knowledge/code from writing sync.(or something like that, its been a while since i've heard the story) Now NI have decided to let him release it for free.
