Kid Spatula - Hard Love ........ lurrrrv

It has to be one of the sickest breakcore anthems of all time. It has literally everything - awesome raves synths, cool hip hop samples, fat nasty breakcore kicks and an awesome break down and its totally danceable!! I think I recall Mike saying that his friends thought it was the best track he ever did. It does encapsulate a fuck load into one track!!! Repekz!

Not sure if anyone read through the most recent newsletter from planetmu... I know it's not MUCH/I'm grasping at straws here... but maybe, just maybe Mike is hinting at an upcoming album? From the newsletter/update: "µ-Ziq a.k.a Mike Paradinas, the founder and owner of Planet Mu will be playing a live set of mainly new unreleased material recorded in the last couple of months. Or maybe he will DJ Chicago Footwork, he too will decide on the night, that's the beauty of live sets by autonomous beings." Thoughts? If anyone has links to new material after the show plays that would be great. Edit: does he play unreleased material of his at his sets often?

First U-Ziq u heard 1 2
by Guest The Bro- 48 replies

First U-Ziq I ever heard was 'Bluff Limbo'. Someone taped it for me and I remember listening to it on some shitty walkman. It was recorded at a really low level so when I turned it up it was full of background noise. I ended up buying the repress of it on vinyl about 6 months later. Incidently this dude's brother was supposed to have some music released on Rephlex but I don't know if that ever happened.

Will we ever see another µ-Ziq album?

I think I read on the Planet Mu forums years ago that Mike had retired the µ-Ziq alias because he thought it was "a silly name". At first I just thought he would carry on releasing under other aliases but there's been nothing from him for years. I know there's been a lengthy dry period with most of the top electronic artists release schedules but I have a gut feeling that Mike has pretty much decided to ditch making music permanently to concentrate on his label. I know there's the odd mix he does but compared to the huge amount of material he did in the 90's it's like he's pretty much thrown in the towel. I hope this is not the case and we see another album someday. He's …

They're actually labeled, but I'm having trouble finding some of these songs (ie what release they are on or how to find them) the songs that intrigue me that I can't find are Tungsten Carbide, and Biosphere. Possibly the Jake Slazenger/Kid Spatula tracks too cause im unfamiliar with those aliases.

http://www.dommune.com/ele-king/features/interview/001771/index.php You can get most info out with Google Translate, though it gets real cryptic. Herufisshu (Hellfish), Tekunoisuto (Teknoist), Shittomatto (Shitmat), Shifakkusu (Ceephax), Dabusuttepu (Dubstep), etc made me lol quite hard. :p

Is it just me or does Sick Porter 1 sound like Animal Collective and Sick Porter 2 sound like the Dire Dire Docks theme from Super Mario 64? Before either existed. dire dire docks animal collective flesh canoe First AC track I could think of, there's probably a better example to be found. Funny, Sick Porter 1 is poo and Sick Porter 2 is lush. WHAT DOES WATMM THINK

Glad this finally got an official release on Meast... one of the most superb tracks by Mike - I dunno what it is - the beat, the melody... pure magic. Never gets skipped on shuffle.

there are two tracks on it called "Stop" and "Perfame", and they are only a little over a minute long. they seem to have such abrupt endings. is my copy fucked up, or are they supposed to be that way?? if they are actually that short...kind of a shame, they sound like they could be really nice.
