by using the "media" button (the last icon that looks like three pictures in the editor), you can now post external links to your MP3s that will play in a mini media player - Blicero's great Mp3 player got zapped by the board upgrade, and until we decide what to do with it (bring it back or keep this one), please use this one as an alternate option. Anybody have opinions either way on either player, preferences, etc.? You can also type out {media}http://www.yoursite.com/yoursong.mp3{/media} (replace the curly brackets for the square ones) manually as well.

The YLC is starting to look like a fucking wasteland, guys. There are so many threads being created all the time and so many of these threads never get any replies. It's wonderful that so many people want to share their creations but it would be even more wonderful if you guys would consider the following before posting: - Are you not getting any replies? Well, before posting a new thread you should maybe comment on some other people's music. Rule of thumb, comment on at least 10 tracks before posting your own. Have you done this? No? Well, get going, buddy. There are +300 pages of music in the YLC. - Is your feedback/comments worth reading? Are you giving sound advice …

Been doing a bunch of relatively straightforward tracks, a drum track and some live synth takes mostly. First one's quite upbeat, the rest are rather downtempo. Last one is a sentimental bit that got a bit overcooked from ping-ponging too much on the 8-track.

Hey everybody, I'm pretty excited about some tracks I recorded recently, and I'd like to share them here with you all: Inside Today Smooth In The Cold This Moment They were all recorded live with the following gear: Roland Alpha Juno, Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1, DSI Toraiz AS-1, DSI Evolver, and an MPC 500, with the breaks coming off of a laptop. Ableton was sequencing everything, and my Focusrite interface took care of recording the performance. The recordings are a bit rough in places, but once I get proper recordings, I think I'm going to try to find a label that might release them, such as WeMe Records, or a label similar to them. Let me know if you t…

Recently I had a bit of a breakthrough in renoise and the intricate drums are flowing fast. There is no better buzz when a track is coming together easily. Thanks for listening : - )

Over the last year, I've been exploring using stem separation to pull parts out of old tracks and create new stuff with them. The tech is getting pretty good, I guess even the Beatles are using it now. Anyway, I spent a few months making a new track from this really stunning Karen Beth song from 1969. I wrote new piano, drum, string, and synth parts, keeping the original vocals and acoustic guitar. Also did a bunch of tricky stuff to create vocal harmonies from the original single-tracked mono vocals. And then I spent way too many hours making this video. Hope you like it. :) Also, if you want to download just the audio: https://www.johnf.ca/music…

Listen to Music is Rotted One Brown Note.mp3 by Rusty on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/7g4sR Squarepusher's 'Chunk-S' mashed with JB's 'Super Bad'. Had this idea of doing a sort of Danger Mouse 'Grey Album' style by mashing JB all over Music Is Rotted. Realised probably 0% demand for this + hard task with the more abstract tracks on MIRON. So, I started with prob the easiest track on MIRON to add Brown to...then got bored. Might go back to this. Dunno.

yo everybody, long time no see! nowadays i am an entrepreneur in the video game business and that's taking up most of my time. but now i've had a new musical inspiration, and am working on my 12th EP release! the concept is that the EP is an audiovisual experience - each track will have its own music video, made with the TIC-80 game development environment. tracklist (i will update this as more videos get finished): 1 air ziggurat (video) 2 opus reverie (video) 3 emerald garden 4 maruchamp (video) 5 odd jovian play 6 virus jungle (video) 7 warp to ZX enjoy and let me know what you think!

We've been pretty insular in the post-pandemic / intrapandemic landscape, so it's been slightly over a year since our previous live performance. The sound's a bit patchy (captured on a 21 year old Yamaha AW16G, which is still managing to prove useful after all this time), but I thought I'd share it since it was energizing to present some new pieces, etc. Thanks for taking the time to check it if so inclined!
