Just realised what a monumental, fuck-off masterpiece this is. It starts off like an innocent, vaguely pleasant guitar song. It builds gradually in its own depth. Then, somwhere around 0:55, something utterly magical happens. The mood completely shifts, like the full force of the elements in the track open up and shine through. The rest of the track explores a vast, detailed world of atmosphere, turning in all directions. Always discovering, and always showing it. Plaid have always had amazing musical ideas, and this goes all the way back to Mbuki Mvuki. What I think has really developed over the years is their ability to express these ideas musically. …

Either Plaid guys' sound system and/or ears is broken, or mine are. Founded sounds like an otherwise nice and beautiful track played back by a kid going wild with a pitch slider, almost every sound is off-tune and dissonant. I can't believe that nobody commented on this track yet. Your opinions?

the electronic music being so much popular than before,,, im thinking why dont new artists, remix Plaid and gain more fame??? is it cause Plaid is hard to remix? what is the reason do you think? cause, afaik, there s only the ones that are on "tekkon kinkreet remix album". other than that, what?

plaid Plaid's music as [always a] soundtrack

So i have watched Michael Arias' Tekkon Kinkurîto (also known as Tekkonkinkreet) today, which as you certainly know, features music composed and produced by our Plaid boys. The music is wonderfully crafted, as anyone would expect from them, but for me it is truly surprising - and one can only understand this when watching the movie - how it sounds so good for such movie. I can't imagine any other artist creating a score for such a film. And this is precisely what got me thinking and it is why i am writing this. Plaid's most recent music always sounds stronger and clear to me when associated with image and/or video. It is true that they have been working in this fi…

I listened to Not For Threes a couple days back and it never grabbed my attention so I turned it off halfway through; something I haven't done for years. It didn't sound BAD but just incredibly BLAND. When I listen to IDM I expect a specific kind of complexity that will become more and more exposed through multiple listens but this just sounded really shallow. If I didn't know any better, I'd of thought this was created by some amateur artist on Fruity Loops. I'm sorry if I offended anyone but seriously, Why do you consider this good music? Did I listen to one of their worst albums? Where should I go with Plaid?

Just came across this new Plaid remix that's coming out soon... sounding heavy with some pretty messed up beat structure. THE FEAR RATIO feat. plaid - morning blues.

So, this might be a long shot, but many years ago someone made me a tape of a couple Mark Broom albums. One of them included an extended version of one of the Phil segments from Bytes, I think Phil (4). I lost track of the tape at some point, but I'd like to hear it again and/or learn more about this track. Anyone?

3rd EP by Oxford band Trophy Wife, entitled "Bruxism". Opening track "Canopy Shade" was produced by Plaid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8G0YRWK4GU&feature=related Great poppy song with nice twangy guitars. Check it out. The other tracks on the EP also have guest producers (including Ewan Pearson and Foals). I reviewed this for an oxford music mag - when the digital version is online ill stick a link up if anyones interested (probably not).
