First of all, I wanna say that I think this is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. Music In Twelve Parts is a series of pieces written by Philip Glass between 1971 and 1974. It's all about complex, intricate repetition techniques. Bars of music will be repeated over and over, but change and evolve over time in an inviting, elegant way. Some people might not be able to cope with the repetition, they could find it annoying if they don't give it full attention. But there's so many subtle changes going on all the time, and as it continues, it evolves into something magical. Something that proves just how talented Philip Glass really is. There's always something …

Can anybody recommend the most important singles released by Warp during their 20 years? Got a good grip on LPs, but singles and EPs don't get as much attention.

H.P. Sneakstep is a mad, mad man, and while a scientist of his caliber could no doubt be winning the Nobel Prize, he instead devoted his time and talents to developing a shrink ray to be used to shrink a small transport ship so it could be navigated unnoticed into the rectum of the person of his choice. The following volume takes us on the inaugural journey, from construction of the ray, and exploring his target's most inner sanctum, to the joyous escape through the target's mouth. I made this available as both mp3 and 24bit Flac for those who want that. Stream & D/L HERE Notes: Track 1: Is an online collab with Acidphakist. Track 3: Spittal provi…

I have a recent craving for a certain type of music. Do you have any bands/recommendations that fit many/some these descriptors: Earthy Natural Deep Bass American Indian sound Electronic but inspired by nature possibly ambient.. but moreso Ritualistic.. Indigenous if that makes sense

First Post in the General Music Discussion Board! General Banter should now be known as General Poop Joke. No, I'm actually excited about this division as I mostly like talking about music. Awesome!

the synth brass at the end of David Bowie's Ashes To Ashes (during "my momma says.."). the time-stretched and pitched sample of a woodblock used for the melody at the end of Nine Inch Nails' Terrible Lie (just after the "my head is filled with disease, my skin is begging you please" tirade). this one really blows my head, i still think it's fucking genius and so simple at the same time. the arpeggiated synth bass that comes in at the beginning of Nine Inch Nails' Somewhat Damaged during the intro, just before the first verse. the bouncy synth bass during the chorus of Skinny Puppy's Worlock, even though this track was made in 1988/1989 it still sounds so fucki…

After seeing that Russell Haswell is supporting Autechre on this little tour they're doing in a couple of months time, I'm wondering if it's actually worth bothering standing through the support or just going really late for Autechre. It all depends on the entry cutoff I guess but I doubt it'll be that early... Anyway can anyone tell me what the really extreme noise music is about? Especially the Hecker and Haswell stuff. I can see how some noise music is musically viable (for example some of Merzbow's output, especially Merzbeat, is quite cool), and I'm into quite a lot of avant-garde stuff (Stockhausen, Mimaroglu, Cage, Berio, Subotnick), but some stuff I just don't…

Ok so do you ever add a little bass or adjust EQ when listening or do you keep everything at the "0" mark to hear an album as the artist intended? Opinions please
