At long last! The best Cure album I reckon. Though most 'extra discs' I rarely play, this one has plenty of good stuff to sink your fangs into. My only original copy is on a cassette. http://www.thecure.com/blog/default.aspx?nid=23104

What do you think? I think in the days of tapes and the early days of CDs, sure I guess they were kind of 'neat' in the sense that it may have been a surprise and you felt gifted. But come on...ever since the late 90s, or even sooner, I've felt it's ridiculously stupid for artists to put tracks at the end of a long silence. Who do they think they are kidding? Like we can't see the counter on our compact disc players, computer media player, portable MP3 player, that tells us the track is not over and has a hell of a lot longer to go? It's just annoying. I'm always baffled when I hear a new or very recent release that has something like this. Come on people, it's 2010...you…

Anyone got the Redshape RA mix? its been archived and i cant find a good download. and whats your thoughts on redshape? personally i think he's a nice fresh breath of air in the techno genre, detroit-influenced but still very unique in terms of quality and sound. one of my favorite musicians.

Records made of diamond and biscuits?
by Guest micmac- 3 replies

Hello all, new member here so go easy... I have a vague recollection of this BBC documentary several years back where they interviewed various sound artists and fringe musicians. At one point, they profiled this DJ who made LPs out of unusual materials, such as diamond and biscuit. Any ideas who this is? I remember recently hearing about an artist who made records from glacial ice. Come to think, maybe this was a dream...

You ain't nobody if you don't love Mi Media Naranja. There I said it. From Labradford through E Luxo So they put out three incredible albums. Last one slight downer but, man, were they great in their prime. Thread inspired by discovery when I went to rip my copy of E Luxo So to flac that the disc is missing. Damn. "Spaghetti" is one of the greatest tracks of all time.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7zbdfV6cfw&feature=related

I've been working my way through this series as I've completely fallen in love with the soundtrack (the bit 15 seconds in of the title sequence has one of the most beautiful chord progressions I've heard in a long time). It's so undeniably French and awesome, does anyone now of any similar artists of this era producing this kind of kitsch-70s music ?

Gaslamp Killer

I'm thinking of seeing Gaslamp Killer this week, because he's in town an i like what little I've heard of his. Also, if his set is like this I'll be happy: But as for his own stuff, where do i start? Does he do EPs or Albums, or just DJ mixes? i have looked over discogs briefly but i can't tell which is which, since alot of his releases have very vague tracklists.

i'm looking to put together a 'golden age of grunge' mix filled to the brim with greasy-haired nostalgia. the time period i guess would be the late 80's to mid 90's.. alternative rock from the same period works too and good videos are a plus. thanks for the help if you decide to give it. i'll start it off with a few: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAvMYODLFEg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKbk7BPXBa4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjNjJR9jUGo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiSkyEyBczU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9AWGc0d8ik http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duqG-gI1-f8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEAylKJb-to http://www.youtube.com/…
