Hullo, I think I may be pissing in the wind here, but I'm looking for this record I found in a store almost a year ago. It was new, had just been released, and it was a collection of what was basically this lady's basement tapes. She used all sorts of analogue equipment and a synth(s) from what I was told, and I believe it was all recorded sometime in the 60's. The guy at the store told me that her family found all these tapes and decided to release it, may have been vinyl-only. If I remember correctly, the record cover was a dark pastel shade of green with some sort of design on it. I am desperately trying to find that damn record again because I stupidly p…

new Dextro vid
by Guest ~ism- 2 replies

as anyone who knows me knows, I'm a huge fan of the music of Dextro (not just because I count him as one of my finest friends) but he's also pretty nifty with a camera and some editing sw. This is a video he's just cooked up to accompany the last track on his new/recent opus 'Winded'. of course, lazy boc comparisons could be made but there's a lot more to it than those simple impressions as I'm sure even that particular brethren would be first to agree. I recommend checking the album out - on 16K records (own imprint) - it's the best money spent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqgrK5bfGQ8

for those of you who have never heard of Edan i'm making this thread he is an old school hip hop artist from Boston, and one of my favorite producers/mc's. well his old stuff sounds like old school revival, but his newer stuff is like psychedelic hip hop, check it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OV7Fw1LXww http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDbBL9IFpCg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCQ60jfnM-s

There doesn't seem to be any posts on these guys..? For me they were as big a part of the early electronica scene as Autechre, The Black Dog and Aphex Twin. Came down from many a mental night to Time Tourist and Electro-Soma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAlvVY6vStU&feature=related

how beautiful is the artwork to drone albums? 1 2

I'm not an ambient guy, but I'm skimming through the DARK/DRONE/METAL section on Boomkat. its all so evocative. I bet I could enjoy listening to alot of it based simply on relating the music to the artwork.

I didn't find much in the search when I put in 'emancipator' and I don't know if he's known at all. I heard of him from his submission to Bonobo's contest where people entered a track for him to remix. Anyway I got his album from January of this year and I'm really enjoying it, it's not entirely dissimilar to some of the stuff on Bonobo's latest album and maybe a little bit like Helios too. I recommend the album, its called Safe In The Steep Cliffs and he's selling it for not much on his site. http://www.emancipatormusic.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srWg5yqYBKQ

theres this girl that has been real into me lately, and I usually dont dig her type, but we were chillin and i put on some Pop Ambient, and she freaked over how good it once....played some afx to her too and she ate it up..(i played fairly accessible tunes) so, i want to make maybe a 2cd "best of" of fairly mainstream but still insanely innovative electronic....any suggestions? im trying to keep it on more of the IDM tip so far ive got: Orbital-The Girl with the Sun in her Head a couple Luke Vibert tracks Venetian Snares-Einstein-Rosen Bridge The Orb-Perpetual Dawn (shes a sorta hippy, so i think she would dig this) it doesn't have to be a retrosp…

I've just been checking out this Moroder guy from the 80s. I think he is Italian. His most influential proto IDM tracks seem to be Flashdance and Neverending Stories and this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp_PIjc2ga4
