...so who has seen them live? After about 15 years, will finally catch them in Dublin this weekend, barring catastrophe. At €45 a ticket, they better be good.

Whipped up a really killer set of breakbeat and dubstep. Has shit like tipper, burial, eskmo, milanese etc. Feedback is always awesome Did this using 4 decks in traktor pro, using an akai mpd24 as a control interface http://kobnet.net/~epsy/undrig/djsets/Undrig-Dubstep.Mix-11-12-09.mp3

i've been on a black/doom/ambient binge recently, and i want to share with you guys some great stuff i've came across lately. Smorzando - Smrad this is special. it's something you can listen to right after (or even between) you run out of Paysage d'Hiver albums. it's not like it's a PDH ripoff, but there are some strong parallels. both guys come from Switzerland. both create *really* immersive atmospheric black metal. smudged, texture-heavy blizzards of rage. but smorzando feels more energetic, less depressed. it still sounds desperate, the vocals are very emotive screeches. if you like Paysage d'Hiver, Nordlicht, Darkspace, Trist and the rest of the crowd…

It's all become become very postmodern and ironic and people unfortunately don't give much of a shit about creating something special anymore. What's wrong with aiming to create brilliant, original, polished, ambitious, affecting music? Why is that something to be embarrassed about? I know I may well get blasted for this post, but it'd be good to hear some interesting points, rather than the unimaginative, cynical - (everyone does cynical all the time now on the internet - it's boring) - grunts that these things usually attract. Artists like Luke Vibert, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares and Aphex Twin (yes, even him) are so "I don't give a fuck" and nostalgic and lazy …

When I was a kid, I was a huge Weird Al fan and was obsessed with the song "Yoda" I found out that it was a parody of the song "Lola" by The Kinks. I didn't get a Kinks album until I was in college but, growing up, would always stop in the "K" section at the record store and debate with myself whether or not to get a Kinks record. After tapping into their vast catalog of genius, I kicked myself over and over that I was so close to discovering them at a much earlier age. They are fucking fantastic and the older I get, the better they get. They blow my fucking mind over and over. Recently (as in the past week), this song has become my favorite song of all time... http…

Yeah yeah, I know, Rustie is this, Rustie is that, I know. I only like one song by him so far, and that's the Heinrich Mueller mix of Zig Zag. If anyone has the Bad Science EP, how much does that song sound like Analord + Xylem Tube-era Aphex to you? The acid bloops, beats, and the synth lines just scream Richard to me. I think it's interesting how his sound is in even aquacrunk, or whatever you call that music these days. I really didn't know where to put this, and it's been itching me for a couple of weeks. lolzzzzojjdodlolol

I've seen a few of these pop up on ebay recently. Fortunately I got my copy a while back, but I'd certainly be worried about getting ripped off if I tried to get a copy today. Who do you think is behind this? The same people who put out the BoC unreleased tracks EP?

hi. so i was spinning the shimmering hour the other day, when a song called flat rock came on. it struck me as odd that the little beat sounds like burial, like, really burialy. listen to the attached file below are lots of people making rhythms like that? cause i thought it was just burial making beats like that, now i hear wisp doing it, im thinking i might start making beats like that too wispdoesburial.mp3

So a friend of a friend is this really cool DJ who's been in mixing since 20 years back. I was at his place once and it was a blast. he's got an 808, CS-80, and lots of cool other stuff. He mixes vinyl flawlessly. Some time ago he handed my friend an mp3 mixtape of "good music" who in turn handed it to me. The 14 tracks are awesome, but there's no artist info. From the samples on the first track, I gathered that one is Drexciya - Bubble Metropolis, but I have no idea what the other 13 tracks are. My theory is that it's either all Drexciya or a mash of various SF UR style electronica artists from the late 80's/early 90's. http://chimera.headfoam.net/various…

What are some of the best breaks tracks ever?
by Guest epsy- 20 replies
- 6.5k views
Breakbeat is one of those things I don't follow all that closely. Liked some of the stereo type stuff I have heard recently. Tho it's a bit overpolished for my taste. I like gritty, dirty, nasty stuff. Figure i'd ask on here for some suggestions for tracks to check out.

I got a tape with cool stuff on it and in the end a voice says you´re listening to JANITOR.. I tried internet but I couldn´t find anything. I remember reading something in 90´s, I think it was an interview with someone who mentioned the band, but I am not sure if I really saw that name written there. Anyone?

silver apples

any fans? what a great band this is. so ahead of their time its not even funny. their two albums from the late 60s still hold up incredibly well.. in fact, they couldve been released last week and would still sound fresh. love the rhythms, the old synths.. everything. classic stuff. they reformed in the 90s and the drummer died a few years ago so i guess they exist today only in name (the singer still tours as silver apples).. ah well, the two records from the 60s are more than enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS487eONRMk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzBlQAqILK0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDk-PGRMMw4&feature=related
