I'm putting together a mix for a Halloween party at my place (my garage) - It's also gonna be the birthday party for my gf so there will be people there who are not really into electronic stuff but most likely won't mind it either (there's gonna be another mix especially for them too, for dancing and so on, but I'm not making that one). Still, it's my personal goal to put together a good mix for the few couple people who will apreciate a selection of nice electronic tracks. I'm looking for stuff that's got a weird feel about it, not TOO dark, not mindfuckingly complex, could be dancey, but doesn't need to be. A bit cheesy here and there is fine too - anything that rem…

A plethera of new Phthalo!
by Guest No Pomo- 8 replies

So the amazing american IDM label Phthalo records has 4 releases that just recently came out, (I just realized it today). Since i love this label, I thought I'd do my job in helping spread the news. I hope there are other members already familiar with this label and people eager to find new and recent/active IDM happenings! So Lucid Dreams aka John Tejada has a full album out now called Recovered Data, which is a collection of tracks from 90's that had not been released. (very good tracks even for THIS era) and there are TWO collections of remixes of this work also coming out. Artists who have done remixes include: Daedelus, Dominik Eulberg, Broker Dealer, Bodycode, T…

adjust tempo/pitch on the fly (foobar)
by Guest viscosity- 21 replies

Tempo (time-stretch): Changes the sound to play at faster or slower speed than original, without affecting the sound pitch. Pitch (key) : Changes the sound pitch or key, without affecting the sound tempo or speed. Playback Rate : Changes both the sound tempo and pitch, as if an LP disc was played at wrong RPM rate. http://acropolis.lokalen.org/wp-content/plugins/DownloadCounter/download.php?id=3 just got this.. already know im gonna have fun with it. putting tuss at -20% rate just makes things so frreaakn nasty

Anyone in/been in bands..... 1 2

I imagine a lot of the people here that make music have been or a still in bands. Link us up an lets have a listen. http://www.myspace.com/stoofaband - STOOFA. This is the band I was in at college, 10ish years ago. The styles vary, as everyone was into loads of different sorts of music. But we were mainly going for a Mogwai sort of instrumental sound... I'm still quite proud of this music and do still Listen to it from time to time. (I was the drummer by the way...) Now post yours!!

Been listening to David Sylvian's Manafon a lot, more for the sounds, space, and structures than for the vocals. Curious if there are people on this board familiar with Erstwhile Records and other labels that put out 'EAI' (electro-acoustic improv) records, and if any thoughts, recommendations, or criticisms could be made here. Artists like AMM, Toshimaru Nakamura, Sachiko M, Otomo Yoshihide, and the MEGO guys (to a lesser extent) like pita and fennesz fall into this area of music. There's a lot of discussion about it on the IHM (I Hate Music) board, but not a whole lot of useful criticism.

So, I've been seeing a girl for a little while now and as is prone to happen when I'm smitten, cheesy love songs have started to work their way onto my playlists. Thinking about this made me wonder what the rest of WATMM listens to when thinking of their significant other. I find a lot of early Stevie Wonder is doing the trick for me lately. I'm on a post-night out beer comedown and dug up The Raven from Spotify (my own CDs stored away with most of my musics). Fuck me, this still sounds an ace album, packed with shitloads of weird shit and ace tunes. Their first four albums are genius. Things started to go a bit downhill after that IMO, but a few years later Aural Sculpture was quite a nice pop album if a bit cheesy. And Peaches FTW.

I'm not sure if this will interest anybody, but here goes: http://www.davidsylvian.net/the-news/433-manafon.html "Intriguing, Suspenseful, and horribly beautiful" (lol) any thoughts?
