I had posted an announcement on the Bibio subreddit that I moderate that both would be available on October 22nd, 2021. Me and a few people who made those pre-orders had them shipped early and received them. When I asked Bibio about these pressings he said he had no idea they were out for preorder and just about every site after that had it removed from their listings immediately, including Rough Trade. He told me there was an error and that they have been rescheduled for a proper release date TBD. I just wanted to post my copies because, to my surprise, I had not seen any mention about either release on here.

Yes, Detroit is where techno started and Chicago is where house began, but although sometimes Detroit house is also often celebrated, Chicago's techno is much less feted. Let's try to change that, shall we?

The concept is simple: include a clip of a song (or two or three) along with the lyrics of said song(s). Ideally the lyrics should be in spoiler tags so as to avoid having a scrolling nightmare on our hands, and also be great. Here are a few of my favorites to get 'er started. Nick Cave - The Lyre of Orpheus Orpheus sat gloomy in his garden shed Wondering what to do With a lump of wood, a piece of wire And a little pot of glue O Mamma O Mamma He sawed at the wood with half a heart And glued it top to bottom He strung a wire in between He was feeling something rotten O Mamma O Mamma Orpheus looked at his instrument And he gave the wire a pl…

I really want to do this but I have much to learn so anyone currently with a setup please speak up. I might use this as a transmitter https://www.amazon.ca/Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headphone/dp/B09J48ZPD4 and then something fancier as a receiver into my old 70s Marantz stereo

Podcast: MEMORABILIA. COLLECTING SOUNDS WITH... Sublime Frequencies Link: http://bit.ly/tGVKoN Founded in 2003 by Alan Bishop, Hisham Mayet and Richard Bishop, Sublime Frequencies has become a benchmark in the exploration of popular and folk music from parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Deliberately avoiding traditional ethnomusicology and academic approaches, they never lose sight of their mission to rescue music and sounds that would otherwise very likely be destined to be forgotten. They work with a highly varied repertoire that ranges from regional radio broadcasts to field recordings, folk compilations and pop and documentary video/film. Mark Gerg…

Over the last year, I've been losing interest in a lot of things. That includes music. Because of this, my skills have deteriorated to a point where I can't play things that I've written over a year ago. ( for example: https://on.soundcloud.com/T7rmG ) When I try to practice them, I just get frustrated and depressed and I give up. If practicing my instruments is causing me so much stress, I guess the obvious solution would be to just stop, but I've spent too much of my life learning my instruments to just give up now. I just can't seem to let myself do that. So I'm stuck in this limbo of mediocrity that I can't figure out my way out of. Has anyone else experienc…

I am a huge fan of FlyLo, and I heard a lot of talk of J Dilla and I am wondering if he is worth listening to and if so what album to start with? Its instrumental hip hop right? I love FlyLo and I want to get into something similar as well. I heard some snipips of Donut Shop but thats not coming out yet for a while.

Anyone else really into unrelenting hard techno? I still love melodic IDM just as much, but lately I've been inspired by tracks where melody is an afterthought or discarded outright. Texture and rhythm have taken its place. This stuff sounds amazing in a club, provided you remembered your earplugs!

Beyond Come To Daddy and Windowlicker. It seems like an instrument that can work very well but there are many ways to make it sound awkward where more typical sounds may sound better. Can be Acoustic/Electrical. Or a Bass guitar, anything as long as it's a guitar.

I thought this deserved a thread, and to share some of his music. Lee was one of the founders of FatCat Records (The shop, which spawned the label). He was instrumental in bringing the Detroit sound to the UK and influencing many other artists. He released records on Irdial, Fatcat, Plink Plonk, Peacefrog, Fragmented, B12, Delsin and his own 10th Planet and Fortun8 labels under several aliases, most notably In Sync and Insync vs Mysteron (with Chris Hartley & David Manuel).

It's simple. I have uploaded a one-minute sample of "Dance V" by Philip Glass. Although the entire file is encoded in FLAC, it randomly switches between two different samples: A FLAC, and a 128kbps MP3. Both are exactly the same apart from the quality, and your job is to figure out exactly when it switches between the FLAC and the MP3. If you really can't tell when it switches, congratulations! You're free! You can encode all your albums in 128kbps and have peace of mind. But if you notice the switches... well, maybe there's a good reason for FLAC encoding after all... RULES: Place ALL your guesses in spoiler tags Ears ONLY (no computer analysis!) Have fun! …

What labels are currently releasing interesting ambient music? I enjoy ambient music, and I'd like to hear what people here think are the coolest record labels that are currently releasing ambient music.

I've been trying to find the original songs that were used by the Caretaker. Apart from what I found on whosampled.com and a Youtube channel there isn't much more. I'm the most interested in the ones on 'Everywhere at the end of time stage 2'. I would love to know what that last track is. I did find the first one, which is 'Love's old sweet song' by James Molloy. Discovered it while watching the movie Awakenings. Anyone else know something?
