Pretty stoked about this! 48 teams instead of 32 as well. Should be a different scope and vibe than Russia and Qatar to say the least. I went to a 94' game with my dad at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and saw Germany and South Korea play, the former winning 3-2.

Don’t know why there wasn’t a topic started earlier. Round of 16 draws look tasty. Only see two real easy draws (Bayern and Citeh). Otherwise some tasty matches that should see us (united), Liverpool, and Roma through, but not easily. Then three really tasty draws with Chelsea-Barca, PSG-Madrid, and Spurs-Juve.

first & foremost, fuck off Chelsea Bluebirds top of the league, aye wrong thread top 4? if Conte goes and Chelski have already blown it, that leaves room for a rejig Utd or Citeh Spurs Gooners Chelksi or Liverpool.....the latter from Coutinho's rumbles bit like Suarez & then Gerrard scuppering Brendan's ride but Klopp is breath of fresh air, if they hit form who knows the Utd guesstimate is from them prob buying big in the winter window & clicking any1 but Chelski please with Spurs a bookies flutter for £20 cos they've been at it long enough ;)

What a crazy first half. A red card for Boyata in fifth minute, 5 yellow card total, Arsenal goal by Nasri and a Missed penalty by Fabregas. Can't wait for the second half!

Forgot to start a thread about this earlier. Crazy weekend so far. Absolute horror tackle from Neil Taylor on Seamus Coleman. The most frustrating team in the world to play against is back (that's right, Greece 2004 has returned). Netherlands making Bulgaria look good. The French national team shows Wenger how to use Giroud properly. Ronaldo gets his 70th international goal on a pretty free kick, leaving him 14 away from being tied with Puskas for leading European international goal scorer.

We have access to more goals than ever...let's see some of your favs. Two recent ones: Martial's footwork in this puts Machinedrum to shame (and Fellaini's chest control is as magnificent as ever...the follow up not so much lol) https://streamable.com/aurg7 And Junior Hoilett scoring a lovely goalazo for Canada. https://streamable.com/3v1kt

So it's time once again for the more exciting of the two european competitions to get lit af Let's start with West Ham. Knocked out of the competition by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu - currently in 11th position in the Romanian League, they've had to sell their best players in order to pay wages, the manager is suspended for betting on football, and the owner is in jail. It's also the second year in a row West Ham has been knocked out of the EL by Astra. Jesus fuck what the fuck is going on over there - i know Hammers didn't have their full line-up, but that looked woeful.

So, Inglan (is a bitch) can't get any worse, ok they could get worse, but thats a tangent.... An ex-colleague and West-Ham regular absolutely loathed the bloke during his time there. Even if Alladyce is kinda personable, said colleague and long time Inglan supporter predicts a brief period of stabilization before rapid disintegration. How do the Anglo-Saxons & footy posting folks see this one playing out? Kevin Nolan's retired, so thats one time honoured tradition missing from his repertoire. Mmold a more cohesive back-4/defensive unit? Only give the players their sweets if they win/draw? Personally, even with all the recent Premier League managerial c…

Engand to lose in the quarter-finals. Group E looks pretty mental, Belgium, Italy and Zlatan will be tough opposition. France, Germany, and Spain have to be clear favourites (and I only include France because while they will have a decent side, they also have the home advantage), with Belgium and Italy not far off the pace. I wonder how many times we'll get to press this button. A kind of weak top 10 Euro goals (but I'm too lazy to search for more - please add).

No one else watching this? Argentina-Chile was mental. Mexico will go far, such passion, but I think Argentina will win it all.

Aand we're off! Any first comments after first matches? Are there any football watchers left here? GG by Real but first penalty should not happen though.

Two great goal from the United-Scouse matchup. Benteke's (credit where it's due, he took it wonderfully) Martial's (superb, what poise for a 19 year old)

Just watched the Arsenal Chelsea match from Saturday. Mike Dean really fucked Arsenal - felt sorry for them. Also Diego Costa is an ugly fucker.

Clearly the superior competition this year. Who's going to take it? Clearly not us, lol. I actually rate Spurs in this one. But you'll face some tough competition in the likes of Dortmund and Sevilla (who are in great form at the moment). Although now that Valencia have their first win under Gary Neville, I expect them to take La Liga and the Europa. ;)

Ok so it's a ways away, but was watching some of the comenbol qualifiers. Chile is going to be monstrously good. They lost to Argentina to be sure but they were missing half their defence. And no Vidal in the midfield. Suarez just doesn't miss. So fucking clinical. Brazil look great going forward, but man their defence looks shaky as fuck. They had their first choice starters I think. David Luiz should never start though.

Even though we're coming close to the end of the season, felt like this thread should be revived on the basis of last weekend. Charlie Adams - 67 yards out: Bobby Zamora - ridiculously good Wayne Rooney, no business scoring this really.
