Football (Soccer) Discussion
Many here on WATMM enjoy "the beautiful game", so much so that a subforum for match discussions makes sense. Keep it on topic, otherwise there's a booking in your future.

Agree/Disagree? I don't understand what Pique is doing there. Maybe put Kompany or Hummels in there instead. And I think Neuer is better than Casillas. And as much as I hate that cunt Van Persie, he could might have been in there as well. And maybe Schweinsteiger could replace Xabi Alonso. But else I have to admit it's pretty accurate, even though I'm not a big fan of Spanish football.

Just wondering what makes you support a team. Do you have any familial connection to the place or is it something else? The squad? The name? The handsome guy in midfield? This popped into my head after reading Dr Lopez use "we" when talking about Spurs and I thought "Of all the teams in all the world why would you decide to support Spurs?" I don't mean to criticise anyone for supporting any team for whatever reason (except Tottenham fans obviously) When I got into Hand Egg in the late 80s I decided to support the Steelers cause I thought they had the coolest kit and the Jets cause I liked the logo on their hard hats.

Does anyone besides me follow the Bundesliga? It's a awesome league. I would argue it's just as good as the Premier League and even better on some areas. Exciting league Great stadiums Passionate fans Talents Rarely any boring matches I've to been to the Westfalenstadion, and the atmosphere was just mindblowing. Not like the boring snoozefest atmosphere there is at most Premier League matches these years. Discuss.

So Zenit spent 86 million pund on Hulk and Alex Witsel on the last days of the transfer window. And they already have players like Denisov, Danny, Criscito, Bruno Alves, Kerzhakov, Lombaerts etc. They have the 12th most expensive squad in Champions League just behind Dortmund and AC Milan. And they are infront of teams like Valencia and FC Porto. So they have pretty good squad. And of course Anzhi has brought in players like Eto'o, Samba, Zhirkov, Lassana Diarra in the last couple of season. CSKA Moscow, Spartak Moscow Rubin Kazan, Lokomotiv Moscow, Dinamo Moscow are also all very descent teams. And with the World Cup heading to Russia in 2018, there will …

The first leg has had a very entertaining second half as Iniesta continues to prove that he's unquestionably and very often Barcelona's MOTM. After a nice goal from Ronaldo, Real has just disappeared. Hah, fucking Victor Valdes. *sigh* lol. 3-2

Any football stadium enthusiasts here on watmm? Post your favorite grounds in this thread. Blue Water Arena (Esbjerg FB) My "local/favorite" clubs home ground. I miss the old Esbjerg Idrætspark which the new stadium are built upon. It was a very old and outdated (almost only had standing room only) But It had so much charm it. The new stadium is amazing though, and worth it. Highbury (Arsenal fc) As a Arsenal fan I had to include Highbury. Don't know what i can say really.. It's was just a beautiful stadium Parken Stadium (FC Copenhagen & Danish National Team) Denmark's "Wembley". Not as impressive but, i love this stadium because of alle the g…

Any predictions for the coming season? Who will win the title? Man Utd. vs. Chelsea... again.. City could very well win it aswell. Who will surprise? Liverpool could be a title contender this year. They've made some very good summer signings. But their pre-season results have been poor. But they have a very interesting team. They should be fun to follow. Wolverhamton could fight for a Europa Cup place. I see them as the biggest surprise this year. Norwich might be this years blackpool? Who knows. Other teams that could face a good season could be: Fulham and West. Brom (midtable) and Sunderland (top 7) Who will dissapoint? Aston Villa …

Shock as more accusations of match-fixing in Italian football emerge. We all know what happens when scandal and Italian football are bedfellows (1982, 2006).

2012 London Olympics

Football just doesn't end this year. If the world were to end in 2012 at least we would have had all the football possible. It's comparable to the League Cup in that no-one really cares about it until they've won it, but with Great Britain being on home-turf and possibly calling on Beckham, Giggs and Bellamy we've got a pretty good shot against mostly under-21 players. I haven't been interested in seeing anything of the London Olympics, but I'm considering buying some tickets for Great Britain vs UAE at Wembley in July just because of Beckham and Giggs lining up together for one last time.

HEARTS - 5 / HIBS - 1 what a day! but it's a shame it was so one sided... a hard fought win would feel much nicer but it was a great day at Hampden regardless... especially with full hospitality tickets! :) and it obviously wasn't a penalty but we'd still have won convincingly without it... i've never been a fan of santana (the diving cunt). there was another incident where the ball was booted off his arm and he went down holding his face and rolling around like he'd been shot. less cheating like this in the game, the better! well done chelsea too btw for a much deserved win.

There's been a lot of discussion regarding Celtic joining the english league system lately. It's been discussed many times before, but this time it seems quite serious. Rangers has been financially struggling. Celtic fear they will suffer from the same fate if they continue to play in the SPL. They would start in League 1 and they would have to work their up. Rangers would very likely join aswell. Personally I'm in love with the idea. Celtic and Rangers are two massive clubs (fan base wise) and they have two incredible atmospheric grounds. They would make the Premier League even bigger than it already is. And it would give me a chance to follow the two clubs more …

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/8918628/Wales-boss-Gary-Speed-found-dead.html Wow, I'm just shocked. Only 42; he was on Soccer Saturday yesterday, and then suicide. A great player, modern professional (despite playing for Leeds), and looked to have a promising managerial career ahead of him too. A sad loss.
