Stewart Lee

So in the past year I have been introduced to Stewart Lee and he's my new favorite comic. This guy is fucking hilarious with his deadpan delivery. But I figure he's been big in Britain for quite a while, what is the opinion of him in the isles? Oversaturated? Overrated? My fave because I can't stand Top Gear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRRPFXdIZrM theres another hilarious one on Braveheart but I'm too lazy to find it.

http://reason.com/blog/2013/10/18/surveillance-video-of-dallas-police-shoo http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FKZcwwTOk34 FYI the video can be hard to watch for some. Cops are getting (have been) out of control in this country? One of my proposed solutions is that you make being a police officer equally as difficult as being a doctor. Lots of schooling on humanities, psychology, etc. Much better pay. That way public servants are true public servants and not just the high school quarterback trying to find a career. I think it can be argued in a lot of places that we don't need as many cops as we have, but we could benefit from hav…

hey I'm going to Scotland in September, going to be doing the sight-seeing rigamarole, and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on places to visit. I want to see some ancient grounds, locales off the standard tourist's path, or just anywhere you especially dig. I'll be staying with my great aunt in Hamilton, but will arrange some wheels, so tell me where to go!

So this was posted in the MillionDollarExtreme thread, and might've been posted in the Youtubes thread, but I thought it needed its own topic. This guy is Sam Hyde of MillionDollarExtreme, and he faked his way into a Tedx talk, and it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. http://youtu.be/-yFhR1fKWG0

Hello WATMM! I have done it. I have finally perfected the hamburger. And I need your help to win a contest! I submitted a burger to the Los Angeles Times Battle of the Burgers. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could vote for it. It's called the Spicy Peruvian burger, and it features many amazing things, the best part being homemade aji amarillo, as taught to me by a native Peruvian friend. You can vote once a day between June 3rd and June 10. 2 years ago you guys helped put our burger at the top. I'm hoping you guys can pull through one more time. Just click "like" on battle of the burgers: https://www.facebook.com/latimesfood/app_367716780015829 and it will…

I've been waiting for this to come out for ages. I really enjoyed Submarine and this looks even better. The Double is a dark comedy based on a novella of the same name by Fyodor Dostoyevsky about a man who goes mad after finding out his life has been stolen by a doppelgänger. Jesse Eisenberg stars as the man and his double, flanked by a supporting cast that includes Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Sally Hawkins, Noah Taylor and Yasmin Paige. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWhikLYeSQ0

So in a week or two I'm going to be admitted (out of my own free will) to a rehab facility for a week of detoxification to deal with alcohol dependency and various drug dependencies. After this week treatment will continue on an outpatient basis in the form of counseling and some meds to suppress 'drug appetite'. Anyone here who has any experience with clinical detoxing? In some ways I'm relieved that it's finally going to happen but I'm also a little nervous as I'm not entirely sure what to expect, especially in terms of other patients. I'm an addict but not your typical junkie so to speak. Hope this topic doesn't offend anyone and if anyone has questions, shoot.

I always thought it was funny to find out some actor or celebrity from days gone by was a midnight toker. Early in the last century, it was pretty taboo in Hollywood, but the jazz scene, along with a wave of Mexican immigrant workers brought the wonders of weed to our nation. I know these guys were cool: Robert Mitchum Bing Crosby (he toked, but he beat the shit out of his family, so not cool) Cab Calloway, who wrote the first drug anthem with Reefer Man Add to this list, I'm curious.

From the current New Yorker Festival. I really want to track down Shirky's writing and lectures now. I think he's very good at articulating the issues at hand and drawing parallels to other points in history, like the changes brought on by the invention of the printing press for…

Would the knob twiddlers be interested in a 3rd Christmas album? I'd like to make it at least a trilogy but I'm not sure if this is the right year to do it. I've left it a bit late, and there are some other projects going on (Genesis Bending, the next chatmm, etc). Chances are a christmas album this year would be reasonable short, although that isn't necessarily a problem because it would only add to the previous two albums. There are also still a number of Christmas tracks not yet done. What do y'all say?

I did a search to see if there is a thread about this (it's likely) but the search function is fucked on mobile. I am no stranger to back pain, but I have gone for about 3-4 years without any real bad issues (aside for a month or two after we got our car... we use a lumbar support in the driver's seat, btw). ... Until today. Man. When you start getting older. The dumbest shit happens to you. I am a diligent "correct lifter", always bending the knees and lifting from the legs with the back straight. Today, I went to reach for my camera bag and only moved a matter of inches in the direction of the bag from a standing position and WANG!!! Shit got all kinds of …
