http://youtu.be/ZnePdPmxjtE Stephen Hawking, the world’s most famous living scientist, tells his own life story in his own words. Given unprecedented personal access to the physicist, filmmaker Stephen Finnigan delves into memories of Hawking’s student days, recounts his astonishing scientific discoveries, and portrays his struggle against Motor Neurone Disease, with which Hawking, now 71, was first diagnosed at age 21. An intimate and inspiring portrait of a remarkable man. Presented in cooperation with the Edinburgh International Science Festival.

So many years ago, I remember hearing this 80s electro-pop number. Here's what I can remember: The main melody was somewhat like this (I can't reproduce it properly, so this is very approximate) and done on a sine-wave synth: 80smelody.wav The vocals were all vocoder-y Leading into the chorus there was lots of arpeggios and laser noises Its been stuck in my head for years and I don't know what its called or who it was by.

Sad to hear, I loved Rum Punch and Out of Sight, the movies a little less so but Jackie Brown was by far the best adaptation. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08/20/elmore-leonard-dies-at-87?abthid=52137ee0898e47394700000e

The Gardens at Highgrove embody HRH The Prince of Wales’s environmental philosophy: "it is better to work with nature than against it" "Since 1980 when The Prince of Wales first arrived at Highgrove, His Royal Highness has devoted much energy to transforming the gardens around the house. With the help and advice of notable individuals and the dedicated assistance of the garden staff, what was once a somewhat bleak landscape is now one of the most creatively inspired gardens of today. A series of interlinked areas, each with their own character and purpose, weave magically around the garden, with the house always visible in the distance. For the last 25 years the garden…

random drugged out theory about trackermatte

drunk theories about trackermatte's music: 1) nephew of rdj 2) produced by rdj (collab with) 3) maniacal and unashamed emulation of rdj 4) the fabled unreleased albums of rdj (and some squarepusher just for good measure) and the least likely 5) sounds like rdj completely by accident - whatever it is, i think triachus knows something.

i generally sleep rather well, but at odd times of the day or night depending on the other things that r going on. i really like to take short naps in the day and sometimes after dark. i like the warm cuddle feelings and ecstasy stretches after naps and the different types of dreams that occur during the more skimpy, driftings through sleep. i'm curious how others sleep. do u have trouble sleeping? do u sleep well with others? what side of the bed do u prefer? one leg in, one leg out of covers? do u like to snack before getting to bed or sleep on an empty stomach? ear plugs? do u like soft musics for sleeping? do u use any sleep aids; herbal or pharmaceutical? do…

there is coffee, there is green tea and then there is passion flower and there r poppy extracts for sleeping. there is chocolate and there is coca and there is cocaine and then there is lettuce which in significant amounts is a strong sedative; it is an opiate. celery even has mood altering affects and there are countless other examples.. what than is the dividing line and is there in fact a dividing line between many of them? if there r no negative effects and there r massive energetic and nutritional effects (like with coca leaf versus cocaine), then why do we not delineate more specifically between the two, making more wide spread use of one, without demonizing i…

I like Putin 1 2

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/06/13/vladimir-putin-defends-the-u-s-on-spying-programs-drones-and-occupy-wall-street/ Someone linked this in another post, but really, I enjoy the way Putin speaks much more than any other politician. Yes, I know he's cracked down in very ugly ways on freedom of speech in Russia (not to mention corruption, mafia, blah blah), and yes, his relaxed "appearance of candor" probably springs from, among other things, a) confidence in the knowledge that he has no direct opposition to twist his words against him, and b) the sort of freedom of speech that comes from being a secondary power that doesn't have the weight…

With the age of smartphones, manufacturers obviously think we're dumber than shit. My latest fail: Tried typing "machine" into iPad, what came up on screen was "my aching ass" Top that!

Making the jump from iOS to Android 1 2
by Guest jasondonervan- 43 replies

After being in the iOS device club since the 3GS (and currently on an iPhone 5), I'm feeling a general sense of ennui when it comes to my phone-using experience. I have the opportunity to try something different soon, and I'm leaning towards an HTC One. I've been doing some light reading on CyanogenMod, and it seems to be something I could get on board with... I relish more customisation and that could do the trick. Any advice/tips/thoughts welcome, especially any testimonials from clever folks who've switched out the base Android OS for a more customised variant. Cheers

Christian Bale could receive $50m to reprise his role as Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel 2, reports the UK Press Association. Bale has made it clear that last year's The Dark Knight Rises was his final turn as the caped crusader, but studio Warner Bros reportedly remain keen on luring him back into the famous cowl. The British actor, 39, would bring all the box office clout of Christopher Nolan's trilogy of Batman movies and also fits the bill for the older, jaded take on the superhero which producers are looking to opt for in a nod to Frank Miller's iconic The Dark Knight Returns. The 1986 graphic novel sees Superman called in to take down an increasingly bitter …

My neighbor and me found a cat in a bungalow-thingie on his property that he doesn't use very often. Poor fucker must have been in there for at least a week, looks more like two, judging from the amount of hair and shit all over the place ... luckily, the tap wasn't completely dry so he must have been able to get some water there. He apparently got in through some tilted window that he managed to close shut behind him, stupid. He was so scared he wouldn't come out from under the sink and kept growling at me. I didn't force him to leave his lair, got him some food and a proper bowl of water. But now what? Set him free, hoping he will return to his people? But…

Just a random but curious question. I've consumed dairy milk until about 2 years ago. Been drinking almond milk instead of dairy ever since. I'm afraid to go back because I don't want to mess up my digestive tract, even though I'm not lactose intolerant. Anyone else drink or don't drink dairy milk for various reasons?

I mean for real? Who starts a thread about a thread about a thread? It's like some kind of forum Matrix thing. If you are happy with the content of the forum, just make a thread about something you dislike.

my work pc dies every time i open photoshop... blue screen comes up with various warnings, mostly "BAD POOL HEADER". it started happening about 1 month ago and only happens with Pshop. it's been suggested that there's an issue with memory but as far as diagnostic check suggests eveything is working ok. i've cleared temp files, defragged and disk clean-upped. it's a 2 yr old HP touchsmart610 with 2gigs RAM. any ideas what could be going wrong before i get some over-priced IT guy in?
