At What Point Will Hollywood Implode?
by Guest hahathhat- 23 replies

And by Hollywood, I mean "those huge companies like DreamWorks and LionsGate that keep churning out big-budget movies." I hap'd upon this article while newsing my morning read: "Fright Night," "Spy Kids 4," "Conan the Barbarian" battle for box office glory (CBS/What's Trending) - "The Help" will need no help topping this week's box office. The real battle will be for the second spot between "Conan the Barbarian" and the still going strong "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," as well as the fourth place finisher, which will between two 3D newcomers "Fright Night" and "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World 4D." Disney's acclaimed "The Help" produced by Dreamwor…

tongue brushing 1 2 3

why is it suddenly so important to brush your tongue? are we eventually going to have to brush our tonsils too? and surely tongue hairs serve some kind of function and should be left to grow luxurious and long?

Long story short, I've decided to put togethor a collaborative photography project - sort of like a photochain but not quite... link the idea is to connect one photo to the next (or any other photo, really) based not on "theme" but where vertexes/lines touch and angles meet, etc. Think of a mosaic, one photo continuing on from the lines in another. I've done up a not-too- invitation/description (below) about how it'll all go down My only problem so far is how too actually host all of these photos, publicly, so that everyone and anyone can keep adding to them. I don't want to be incessantly PMing passwords back and forth. Ideally, the site will allow t…

heyo so i've finally gotten around to getting that new computer i made a thread about so now i have an old one laying around. im giving my mom my 8 year old computer since it's much better than hers, but i'll have hers to mess around with now! check out these specs 1.7ghz Pentium 4 processor some crazy Matrox industrial strength video card 128 megabytes of ram. that's it. 128mb. and it's some weird type of ram that you can't even find anymore. so what can i do with this thing? ideally i'd like to turn it into a media server/seedbox, but im not sure if that's really possible with such a measly amount of ram. might it be possible with some linux distro? i k…

Don't know how many countries have covered this story, but if you haven't already heard it: Thursday 18th of august a huge unexpected storm has hit the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium, one of the biggest festivals in Europe. Lots of stuff blown away, tents from camping grounds blown away, trees ripped out of the ground, flew into full stage tents, stage tents collapsing... This has resulted in 5 deaths and numerous serious injuries (a few people still fighting for their lives). The rest of the festival has been cancelled now (which seems ... appropriate). A bunch of my friends were there... I'm glad that they are all OK crazy footage going around: …

(mods - can this stay in General Banter? as we need the force and skills of the whole of general banter for this) Today is Richard D James' 40th Birthday. Holy crap. It is becoming customary on the internet for fan sites to give the object of their fandom a present of some kind on major birthdays. And watmm was once a simple RDJ fan site. So how about we get a T-shirt printed and send it to him over the next week or so? So if you've got an idea for something you'd like to present to RdJ on a T-shirt for his birthday, please post it below. (NB: designs need to be safe-for-workish so that they can be printed by t-shirt printing services) When we've a…

I need a totally bitching name for a company. Let's say hypothetically I'm starting a bank that helps dig people out of the housing crisis, people that have troubled mortgages. I want the customer to feel safe and assured, not intimidated. I want the customer to feel like it's not their fault that they got in this mess. I want the customer to be like, there is hope and trust with this company. Any ideas? I'll paypal 20 bucks to the best suggestion.

so i'm curious what the biggest thing you burly watmmers have had to put down, or murk, as we say in the states. i guess putting down your dog counts, even though that comes with universally accepted and emotional responses. i've been having a problem with mice in my apartment—i saw one several months ago in the dark, though wasn't entirely sure until my girlfriend swore on her life that she saw one on my kitchen counter. i bought two sticky traps, hoping in all honesty that the mice would get the hint and leave. but no. mice are fucking stupid. after hearing occasional squeaking last night, i look to the trap on the counter to see my catch. a little mouse, no big…
