Besides the featured artists (plus the conspicuously missing Venetian Snares), who do you listen to the most, whose music excites you the most, who are you a big fan of? I mean stuff that is in the same rough genre as those ones - IDM, braindance, breakcore, weirdo progressive electronic music, whatever (the featured ones are Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Ceephax, Clark, Luke Vibert, µ-Ziq, Plaid, Squarepusher)

Ok, I've been to Paris.... at least, years ago now, before the pandemic... thankfully...... but ok, I will say, it was a lovely nice place.... to visit briefly anyway.... PFFFFFF..... "madame monsieur" *fart* 😉 But yeah anyway, we all know the Tour de France, I'm sure your girlfriend does anyway pff.... but what I'm really wondering and guessing, this video is from the 70's or 80's somewhere.... but did y'all actually raid piss shops during the Tour De.... and not wear bloody helmets???! The manager had to pay for your antics afterwards???? You animals pfffffffffffff *smokes a cigarette in the street while my dog shits everywhere pffffff.....*

HBO tonight. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. James Kirkland Fight's about to start right now. Unlike the previous weekend's event, I think you can expect fireworks early in this one. I'm picking the Mexican Ginger by KO in 6. Kirkland will be dangerous early, and I wouldn't be surprised if he put Canelo on the canvas at some point as well. Thoughts?

i used to be kind of racist, for weird reasons. i've always been told we all are. i think "nigger" is kind of a funny word, because a lot of black people that i know are funny. and those are the ones i don't know so well anyway, so i've been thinking, racism is...disgusting. and most people seem to have it embedded deep within themselves. well i'm sick of it. lets just chill out. lets stop letting the media control the way we think. i'll be the first to say it: chapelle stopped because he realized what he was doing wasn't actually helping, it was harming existence for all "races" fucking races. if we could only all be the same color, nobod…

It seems when I think of the future of Ai, exciting and then very pessimistic thoughts come to mind. It feels just so up in the air to an absurd degree. It feels like it could swing entirely one way or the other. I am generally pessimistic about this. Will it just become a tool among many creating a collaboration between human and Ai where both are required, like the techbros developing it suggest, or will it upend human creativity as a whole, to where the only reason not to use Ai in a professional capacity, is just because you enjoy the process of making the music? OR is it more complicated than such black or white thinking? There is another Ai thread about m…

All Marx related posts will be moved here. From last night's debacle of breaking a rolling lol (mea culpa): Lol that’s not what it’s about at all. But good job in not reading Marx. Now Marx goes on to describe the horrible working conditions, and they were, but regulation and enforcement improved those working conditions (Marx also makes a lot of assumptions that show correlation but not necessarily causation). And, as Solow shows in his seminal paper, technology has such a huge impact on the aggregate production function that it doubles or more GNP per worker. This of course results in more revenue, meaning more tax (in well managed c…

Going to Gefle metal festival this friday and spending a few days in Stockholm before and after. Was hoping to get some tips on cool places to visit, any bars, thriftshops, recordshops or just interesting spots to check out are welcome. So far the Nya Carnegiebryggeriet and Sound Pollution are on the list. Is Södermalm worth visiting or just a hipster deathtrap?

Hello WATMM! This is the user formerly known as mc_spatula, back from the dead 20 years later. If you don't know who I am, you probably weren't here before the big 2005 server reset. I was the token 12 year old that every internet community then and now is guaranteed to have. I posted here from approximately 2001 to 2004-05. I went to high school, college, grad school, and have been working for the last decade or so since then. I just turned 34 a couple days ago. I grabbed a new account on here a month or two ago and have been poking around to see how many of the old heads I could still find. I reached out to Joyrex, delet, mcbpete aka Cubus, taphead aka ACP, Springy…

I have a feeling this may turn out to be the least successful watmm thread of all time. I need a bookshelf, and ideally also some way to store about 200 pieces of vinyl. So having looked and found no elegant or cost effective solutions, I've come to the conclusion I should build my own. I can put up some shelves, but beyong this my experience is limited. But I've also been thinking that I don't want to build some awful boxy stacking units and that I should get totally out of my depth and attempt something electonic music like a recreation of an Ettore Sottsass. Any carpenters on here? Anybody tried building their own furniture? Anybody know of any useful…

Really want to watch more stand up comedy but find a lot of comedians to be fairly uninteresting. Post your favorites, and bonus points if you attach a youtube video of good bits or full length specials. Thanks
