http://tompride.wordpress.com/2014/08/02/massive-oil-find-off-coast-of-scotland-hushed-up-till-after-referendum/ http://yes2014.net/2014/08/01/oil-around-shetland-could-be-more-than-it-appears/ its fascinating the amount of tricks they have up their sleeve to trick people into voting to keep the union. the papers literally every day are filled with shit, a recent one that tickled me was 'yes vote could delay cure for cancer' not sure how many people living in scotland are on here, whats the consensus. yes or no?

I'm just curious as to whether or not anybody here actually has a sizeable video game collection, since the "currently playing" thread is always pretty lively. I only own games across 4 platforms; Gamecube, Wii, PS3 and PS Vita And the rarest (and most valuable) of them all, is this: I actually own two copies, one sealed and one to play. If you've never checked out the Fire Emblem series, I suggest you do, it's awesome. My brother owned a big box copy of Earthbound many years ago, he actually had a PAL and NTSC SNES for whatever reason.

In the past 4-6 years I have noticed a dramatic increase in the general public (at least in the USA) substituting the world "folks" for the word "people" and it's pissing me off. People are people, dammit! "Folks" used to imply a casual, close, friendly reference to a small gathering of people, your family, your parents, etc. Now people use it when referring to an arbitrary group of people, those whom they have probably never even met or heard of.... agggggghhhh! I think Obama's speech writer started the whole fad as a way to make the prez sound more down-to-earth, even though few world leaders truly know, appreciate or give half a turd about these "folks" they kee…

"The first phase of our work on the Cambridge Digital Library, which runs from mid-2010 to early-2014 and has been made possible through a lead gift of £1.5m by Dr Leonard Polonsky. This generous support will enable the Library to develop its technical infrastructure and create significant content in the areas of faith and science - two areas of particular strength within our collections." "The Foundations of Faith Collections includes important works from many religious traditions, particularly Judaism, Islam, Christianity and Buddhism. The Library's faith collections are breathtaking. They include some of the earliest Qur'anic fragments on parchment, the first known…

with the latest adaptation, The Adjustment Bureau seeing imminent release, and now Michel Gondry wants to make Ubik, should we keep mining this man's work for our cinema entertainment? the results have been somewhat split: GOOD: Blade Runner Minority Report Total Recall (iffy) A Scanner Darkly BAD: Impostor Paycheck Screamers Next

Brilliant! Spread a layer of Durabond II wood glue on record, smooth it out, let it dry and peel off the sheet of glue. It works so well getting into the grooves and grabbing foreign contaminants, you can actually play back the glue sheet on a turntable. The glue actually sounds decent, and many of the clicks or pops you hear from the glue was a piece of material that was removed from the vinyl.

This thread is going into ranting territory, so apologies in advance if I come across as a dickhead, but I need to get this off my chest somewhere: Why has the movie industry turned so absolute crap? I honestly can't remember the last time I was excited for a movie. Never has there been so little originality and variation, it's just superhero movies, silly comedies and bad popcorn flicks, with the occasional movie that tries something else/new, and gets massively overrated *cough* Gravity *cough* because the competition is just horrible in general. I'm probably just beating on a dead horse, but how did things turn this bad? Where are the Taxi Drivers, the Blade R…

Wow that was a mouthful, if you are a hopeless fan of Brazil as I am and know Terry's detest for the church, it will come as no surprise to you there is a deep Christianity parody storyline running thru that film. Check the DVD commentary, anyway, there were supposed to be several overt crucifixes in the film implying parody, but the studio excised almost all of them, save for a few in the funeral scene. I'm proud after 30 years Terry is still pushing for this artwork. It really is one of the greatest sublime parodies of life in the modern world we will probably see. Foretelling things like the internet, obsession with plastic surgery, the loss of individuality to cor…

There are so many good choices. If I had to pick one, it would have to be Cocoa Puffs cereal milk, which, for me, has a slight edge over Cocoa Krispies cereal milk. I haven't had Apple Jacks in a while, but that's some good cereal milk too. Frosted Flakes cereal milk is a nice stand by.

On this site, I'm betting at least half the members are aspiring artists of one form or another, or closet artists. What floats your boat? I've recently become intersted again in creative writing after a friend told me I have a knack for written communication, even though I'm introverted. Could be a second career possibility for the 2nd half of my life. Artists, reveal yourselves!

Brain Damage 1 2 3 4

Guys, I am about 90% certain I am either developing a neurodegenerative disease or have taken brain damage somehow. At the moment I don't know if this is going to be permanent, but seeing how my current symptoms crept up on me over a period of months it certainly doesn't sound like acute trauma. Here's what's going down (copy/pasted) if anyone cares to read. It's a TL;DR, sorry for that: Basically I am in limbo until I get an MRI, and properly evaluated by my neurologist next week. Even then, I don't know if he will reach a diagnosis. Other than starting to lose motor control my brain is working okay, if not a little foggy. Have any of you suffered from o…

I've pondered starting this thread for the past few months now. So here goes. On the way to work this morning, I encountered what appeared to be roadkill along the highway. Couldn't tell what animal it was, but it was black fur, scattered in pieces. A raven was standing on the side of the road, watching it. Presumably it was waiting for a gap in traffic before proceeding to fetch some carrion. Smart birds, btw. What have you encountered out of the ordinary recently, with your own eyes? Capturing your encounter in a YouTube clip or in an image is welcome too. But in adherence to the rules, I would ask that it be (relatively) SFW.

http://news.sky.com/story/1170619/monty-pythons-circus-set-to-fly-again http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24999401 Though I have an awful lot of affection for Monty Python, I'm not sure a reunion will really work, or even be very funny. Last few times I've seen Cleese on TV he's come across as a bit of a twat really, and I recently saw Michael Palin doing a cringe inducing pseudo-rendition of the dead parrott sketch on the awful Sarah Millican show. Still got a lot of respect for Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam but I reckon this whole thing is probably a bad idea. Thoughts?

WATMM... your help is needed! Background for those that don't know the story: Klyxn was supposedly Elisabeth Marianne Schade from Frankfurt, Germany. Klyxn joined FEM Records as an artist after we contacted her via MySpace around the end of July, 2009. Two Klyxn albums were released: konf/ac (10/26/09) and Points That Matter (11/16/09). A few days after her 2nd album was released we received word from Kylxn's mother that she had died on 11/14/09 - she had been apparently suffering from a brain tumor. In December '09 plans were made to create a tribute CD using Klyxn remixes and collaborations from various artists. Initially Klyxn's family was receptive and eve…
