what would be the difference between recording an entire digital track to tape or recording each channel seperately to different tapes and then layering them back together in a multitracker would the latter be werth it? i don't care much for the analog digital debate but i was swishing this idea around in my head and thought it better to ask. sounds like a lot of werk is this foolish?

VST-Freeware: Simple Granular Effect
by Guest Kazuo- 3 replies
- 1.4k views
Hello, I'm searching for a vst-effect similar to "KTGranulator" (http://www.koen.smartelectronix.com/KTGranulator/) What bothers me about the KTgranulator is that it only takes mono input and that the interface is a bit unhandy for real-time tweaking. can someone recommend a (free) plug-in with similar capabilities but with stereo input. thx in advance

The solution is to do a system restore to any prior point whenever the Challenge pops up. This will work indefinetly. And by the way, Miguel Abelton is an artist.

Looking for a tracker for Atari 1040
by Guest Diao- 11 replies

I've decided to take a massive step backwards and buy an Atari 1040 ST. Right now I'm running ReNoise as a sequencer, but I'm slowly moving towards having an etirely hardware setup. My problem with ReNoise is that on the PC I find too many distractions and whatnot. Anyway, I love the tracker interface that ReNoise offers, and I was curious if there were any trackers out there for the 1040.

If you mixed a stereo track into a mono track, does it just take the left or right stereo track and make that into both tracks, or does it blend the two tracks into the same thing on each side? I hope I'm being clear here... Here is a diagram to help 1) L-R ----> L-L or R-R 2) L-R ----> L+R-L+R

I used to know of one that was just a million links to breaks, times new roman text on a white background. Then one day, SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENED! It was gone. That used to be my #1 break resource, and I need some new ones. I've worn down the ones I have. Does anyone know of a free breaks library that I can sample the fuck out of?

composing/writing music 1 2

ok so i want to create music, i've got a copy of ableton(fuck off too that cunt), and for a while now i just sit at the screen not knowing what to do, this happens when i've created a good bassline, beat, and then i start to fuck around with synthy/string stuff that i think i'll use later, as well as other sort of lead melody, other melodys. the real point of this thread is to ask help from anyone who is experiened in music making note: not experimental/glitch/electronic music/or any other non-pop format music, how do i compose a song; as in what comes next?...what else have i missed?...do i need such elements?.... i'am really frustrated here cause i've got good…

I'm having a bit of a hard time putting together decent sounding mixes of my post-rock tracks, the clean sections sound ok but I just can't get the 'heavy' parts to sound non-mushy.. What do I have to do in order to make the heavy sections sound nice and crisp, with some amount of space? I've been briefly playing around with compression and have managed to get a rather fullon sound where the drum hits make the whole track dip, but I want something a little more 'stable' I guess. Any general tips/advice?

my pal is quite new to music making but hes pretty good and he decided somehow to buy an alesis ion, which is somewhere in the region of £400 i believe,. well the purchase didnt come about cause the shop messed up, and i really think for someone whos just trying out synths for the first time this is a big spend and might be unneccesary. I said maybe microkorg cause i know a lot more people who swear by them than who dislike them and the price is right. but really what could you buy within this price range, bearing in mind you dont have to spend it all? is the tiny amount of knobs on the alesis micron a problem at all? my mate reckons more knobs means more instantaneous co…

Hey everyone. This is a pretty noob-ish question, but I've been getting pretty into Drum n' Bass, and would like to make some of my own. I just dont know what kind of software to get. Cost isn't really an issue, as long as it's around $500. Please help point me in the right direction. P.S. I'll prob. be getting some kind of midi controller along with it. any reccomendations would be appreciated.

I had to restore my hard drive yesterday, only a partial restore. The problem is that now I cannot access my original user folder through the documents and settings folder. I get the pop-up *access denied; folder is password protected*. There has to be some way to access that folder, I know what the password is, there's gotta some way to use the password to get back in there. The file I need access to is a track I spent the better part of yesterday working on :(, I fear it may be gone forever.... Please if anyone know's of a way to access this folder again let me know. thanks.
