Or any other time signature for that matter. I get the rhythm in my head of 1,2,3 but thats it. I have no fuckin idea how to compose anything. Any drum beat I write sounds like shite. Fuck I wanna make some jazz music. No but seriously this shits a head fuck! :dizzy:

Traktor DJ tips? 1 2
by Guest The Bro- 32 replies
- 2.3k views
I had a fiddle with it on the weekend and apart from basic mixing of one track into another I can't seem to get a lot out of it. Anyone a pro on Traktor? I mean call me unimaginitive but I just don't get it. Like looping shit seems like a nightmare and anything I do just seems out of time and syncing does that ever work? Is there any point to this program or should people just use Winamp to DJ mp3s?

Okay so im unhappy with the same old drums... ...and i'll get myself a sampler one day... but in the meantime... can somebody please tell me where I can buy a CD full of drum samples? Preferably one that is made for drum samplers in that they give you the elements of the beat seperately. Also I'm after variety too (needsto include tom drums and ethnic drums) so if you guys know of a really good CD, that would be fantastic Thanks in advance, catchas :smiling:

the casio cz-1 synthesizer
by Guest eatanter- 14 replies

so.. i've seen the casio cz1 synthesizer in a second hand shop nearby and am seriously considering purchasing it. it would be the first hardware synth in my collection. can anyone around here who uses/has had used it tell me some things about it? i can't find the manual on the web, only some hints and tips, but i'm looking for experienced users to tell me whether it would be worth buying, along with some facts and firm explanations. i don't have a lot of money at hand all the time, so i don't want to waste it for some gear that turns out to be a mere disappointment. i'm making some sort of electronic music-ish stuff, squeeks & squirks, at times so…

Compilation
by Guest môak- 22 replies

hi there since there has been the past acid contest and all that shizzle i would like to create not a competition but a compilation. yes thats right, everyone posts a sample whether it be a drum loop, or drum sound/sample, from bass riff to wishy washy sounds. when we have enough samples/sounds/drums etc.., we should choose a person here experienced with music arranging to make a track out of it. this was discussed a while ago, and i would like to bring it back to life.

so how do all the electronic music bad boys do glitchy beats.. i'm thinking like vsnares stuff (aanguish in particular), or aphex twin for that matter there's a glitch vst but it feels like only noobs use that because its too damn easy. any tips.. like, processing the stuff, where would you recommend on putting the beats as well as all the crazy little effects. please don't tell me i have to cut and slice waveforms.. i really enjoy pure little waveform sounds that comes out of taking tiny pieces of samples. i've been playing around with playing beats with my midi keyboard at 120bpm then speeding it up to 180 and it can have some cool results.. but putting th…

Live performance knob twiddling tips?
by Guest LJG- 17 replies
- 1.9k views
Hello all- I'm relatively new to electronic music, and I'm working with the EMX-1 by Korg. On the patterns that I've created and saved, rather a lot goes into the construction of synth parts- and of course the saved patch contains your knob settings. I'm wondering how people deal with knob settings in realtime performance. Basically, when moving between patterns and patches, if you need to readjust your knob settings for some smooth and seamless tweaking, what methods do you employ? If I'm just working on one tune, I can, in stop time, tweak parameters until "Original Value" is displayed easily enough- but if you want to flow from one patch to another without an…

i was trying to find some guitar magazines and i came across this book i started to learn out of it while i was playing guitar then i kinda stopped playing guitar and now i think i might come in handy for some neo classical acid lines. anyone else got this book, if so what are your favourite bits? so far im enjoying invertible dodecaphonic progressions with all diffrent intervals on page 184. having said that i cant possiblly go that high or low on a 303. i am also enjoying the basslines of the first page. Tritone progression equal division of one octave into two parts interpolation of one note i am told that miles davis and frank zappa swo…

So like, you're playing stuff through your DAW and/or soundcard inputs and you want to broadcast it over the internet. What kind of software is out there that allows you to do this? Any freeware? A search on google wasn't leading me anywhere fast. I know it has had to have been done before...

finally got ableton up and going again, but i've got a couple of queries that i hope you guys can help me out with. 1) some of my vsts don't work? the ones that don't work have just a black dot where the MIDI button is, and when i select it to use the vst, it doesn't work... only the ones with small dots that look like a MIDI plug work. what am i doing wrong? 2) on this installation of ableton, i don't have devices - nothing under the subcategories in instruments, midi effects or audio effects. is there a way i can obtain them or is this version fucked? sorry for the asinine questions, thanks

recommended freeware

is there a freeware application for win xp that has sequencer, some synths and drums, just for making a little music here at my mother's pc? don't wanna install too much shit of mine here, just a nice prog to spend some time with? although buzz is running (in buzz terms, that is) on my home pc, i tried it here, but to no avail, it keeps crashing on startup. i read so much about some really exquisite freeware programs a few months ago that had, like, practically everything in 'em you'd need, but alas, not a single name is coming to mind now. you tell me?

Hey guise lets talk about guitars. As you may know I'm getting back into playing again, and also experimenting with different tunings. At the moment on my acoustic I've tuned it right down to AEAEAA (basically A5) with the two high A strings being slightly out of tune with each other, for a chorus-y sound.. Sounds awesome for drone stuff, and the thick strings handle it well. And since it's neither major or minor, it becomes more flexible than usual open tunings! Excellent. I've also got one of my electric guitars tuned to CGCGCC, pretty much the same thing but I use it for metal. EFFECTS! What are some good guitar effects to buy? I want a really awesome reverb, …

can you play multiple reason projects/songs at once in Reason 3. you can't in 2/2.5, but i read somewhere that maybe you can in 3. also, did they add any automation that wasn't in previous versions? the propellerheads site only really talks about the combinator, which sounds great, but it overshadows any improvements to old features they might have made.
