DJing at gigs
by Guest The Bro- 14 replies
- 1.1k views
Okay guys just wanted to get peeps feelings on the best way to approach DJing live. I think mixing skills aside, my aim is to try and mix it up with lots of difference styles but predominately keep dance based and funky. That said I do usually have my preferences at to the sort of shit I like to play and that usually evolves a heavy slice of electro funk shit. Anyways I wanna play some Techno, Electro, Old Skool Hip Hop/Electro Pop, Jazz Fusion/Funk, Funk/Disco, a little Punk, Psychedelic Rock, Drum & Bass/Amen shit and other tunes. The question is; what do you guys usually do? Do you like feel the crowd and shit and keep it rolling as long as peeps are da…

my soundcard just gave up on me, seems to have been because of a power surge or something. it was a really bad audigy anyway, so i'm not too annoyed about it what is the cheapest soundcard i can get that isn't noticeably bad? preferably something with just one input/one output, i've already got a mixer. i don't care about 24-bit or anything suggest away!

Hey, been posting on the board for a while now, so I decided it was finally time to post some tunes. Went through my old harddrive recently and found tons of tracks I had forgotten about, and I noticed that many of my favorites were the short interlude tracks. So I got to work salvaging stuff and revamping old tunes, as well as working on a few new ones and here is the result, 20 interlude tracks crammed into 36 minutes. All of the tracks are ambient and were made in the Maelstrom granular synthesizer in Reason 3.0. Any feedback would be appreciated. Are these any good, do they totally suck? Let me know what you think. Rorschach Mix Artwork

Here is a bank of various weird sounds and hits I made in Vaz Modular 3 , whether or not you can do anything with them is anyone's guess. Every little helps. Feel free to post some of your own. Could do with some interesting sounds to muck about with rename file to .rar

Belladonna Records is happy to announce our first physical release and is currently accepting submissions. Already confirmed are a couple of our favorite artists from Merck, Ghostly and the current BD roster...leaving about 8-10 slots open. Title: TBA Theme: Summer Requirements: Electronic based music with an organic overtone. Genres preferred are downtempo, electronic music, dub, trip hop, indietronica, techno, deep clicky house, melodic breaks... however, all submissions will be happily reviewed with top considerations going to current BD artists. Guidelines: Tracks should rely on more musically created statements. The heart of this project is …

hi there does this blue beast give what you expect...awsome bass i was looking to buy an analouge sequencer bass and i was going to save up and buy a tb-303, but i was mainly planning to use it as a bass, like not using the tweak and lazer acid trademark of the tb but for $1500 Australian i don't think its worth it so i was researching about that x0xbox and thought maybe i should get that, since it would be about $500 for me, and it seems like its good bass. but then i found out that the tb-303 has more low frequnceies than that x0x0b0x. then back to the tb-303, because of its lightness and mobility;battery powered, which truly turns me …

Crazy Ivan's variables

I've just downloaded Bran's Crazy Ivan VST. Its a very exciting processor and creates some truely bonkers noise however, I'd like to be able to control it more. I'm really not particularly technical with these things although its a slow case of learning so could someone please explain what each variable does and which ones relate to one another etc? so i am working on an album to be more specific, its composed entirely of samples from 20s jazz tunes it is almost in the 1st stage of completion (all songs completely composed/arranged) so i would say it is at least demo quality the style is sort of a cross between some of amon tobin's less-drill stuff and dabrye....a cross between simple and complex, but the beats all are pretty house/downtempo/hiphop based with the music staying complex despite being loop-oriented... anyway this is a cohesive album that i am considering releasing (only a handful of people have heard some of the older versions of selected tracks) and i am wondering if i should try and shop i…

i'm saving up for my next toy and had my mind set on the 1000 so i went to get a hands on feel at the local guitar center. I stood before all the drum machines/sequencers along with 3 of the employees. they asked which one i was saving up for and i pointed at the 1000 and they all nodded in approval then all simultaneously pointed to the 2500 and said to might as well save any other $600 and get the 2500 instead. The reviews i've read are about equal but the 2500 has a HDD.... and a 1000 just went up on craigslist used for $600. So i'm in a bit of a pickle. any other hardware you'd suggest? i love the MPC's but sometimes they have too much of a hip hop feel to 'em, …

studio monitors
by Guest arbee- 17 replies
- 1.4k views
I've always produced with my headphones, there is no big deal here I guess since I'm able to do a good mix and all. headphones are great to make beats when people around are asleep or don't want to be bothered. headphones are not great cause they can fuck your ears up if you use them for a long period (just like what I do). so I guess it's time for me to check for some studio monitors. I know those things can become quickly expansive, and I'm not a rich freak... what do you guys use or what do you recommand. I am interested in everything, cheap or expansive, I will checkout more seriously to buy those that aren't too pricy but still, just tell me what you know, than…

So I finished a tune i'd been working on for a while, and like because i used distortion on most every part, the levels are all messed up to where it all has to be loud just so it's not compressed and inaudible, any help? i'm using reason btw like i'm having the most problem with the drum, like if all the parts are sounding it's ok, but if i solo like the hi-hat or cymbal or something it's overbearingly loud for some reason, can someone please help i want this song to sound good and i'm going insane

I'm seriously considering getting one. demos like these it sound like pure sex http://www.synthmusic.info/mp3s/Closedeyes.mp3 It's either this or several cheaper synths and I guess quality goes before quantity. Only doubt is it'll be my only hardware synth then and it might be a little lonely. What are your experiences/opinions of the andy?
