Bridging the realms of sound, live performance and literature, I've created a system in TouchDesigner that transforms real-time audio data into unique AI generated poetry being recited, also in real-time. if you do a search in youtube, you might find this video about making a bass in fm: however, i am afraid that most of the videos on youtube seem to be tutorials on how to make a skrillex bass. however, a skrillex bass to me isn't really a bass, although it contains some bass fundamentals. i am a little old school, so i prefer a bass instrument to contain mostly bass fundamentals, for the purpose of creating harmonies and other syncopated events. A week or so ago I re-discovered/remembered the AutoSampler that is built into Logic Pro and Mainstage. I have a rompler synth where I keep using 4-5 favorite presets with minimal tweaking so it felt like a no-brainer that I should just auto-sample those sounds and get rid of a lot of I/O mess in my projects. So I sampled a bass, some organs, some rhodes-wurlie sounds. The way the AutoSampler works is that you set some parameters and what notes you wish to sample etc etc (online video tutorials cover this part so I won't repeat much here) and then you hit "go" and come back in 5 minutes to a neatly organized sample folder and even Apple's own sampler instrument that …

krYlon reminded me that a while ago I accidentally corrupted a save on my megadrive emulator, if I then try to load other save states it sounds like it's trying to create various oversteps tracks. Software that can track harmonics in a sound well and isolate them. Example: you throw in a piano note playing C, or any note. The software can track the harmonics, and be able to do things like isolating the Even or Odd harmonics within the sound as it plays and changes. If it has even better functionality and can isolate harmonics in more ways that would be even better. But I am looking for a way to isolate Even/Odd Harmonics at the very least. I just think it would be cool to run even harmonics thru separate effects than odd harmonics. As an example. And obviously you can take it further mathematically. Bpm isn't something I pay attention to. Most of the music I made in the past I didn't even change from default 120. I know that lots of hip hop is 90 bpm. What speed does dancier stuff start at ? I really don't know. What do you guys like to use ? And do you prefer making slower music or fast music ?

Something that's been turning around in my head for a while. what kind of parameters are addressed when trying to keep cohesion on an album level. Some examples So I take it as naturally occurring (from experience) that inside of any musical (or any artistic) form an artist chooses to work in, their idiosyncrasies will naturally present themselves in terms of their "voice" or what have you. Since FLAC is an uncompressed format, it should in theory give you an exact digital copy, right? I've found (in my meager experience) there is still a difference when sampling. I'd imagine the sampling software/hardware you are using makes a big difference, what say you all? Who are the sampling geniuses around here?

UPDATE: I have found some promising software called 'AudioStellar'. It not only does a great job of accurately chopping samples, but it will also map them by similarity, similar to Atlas, however unlike Atlas it has some very unique and fun ways of triggering/manipulating samples. Set up: Arturia Keystep, Midi Fighter Twister I love the feel of the midi fighter's knobs, and I definitely get the most enjoyment out of my sessions when I've mapped cool parameters to knobs that I can then just jam with. so I'm reading this book on quantum mechanics and it gets to talking about the fourier transform. I knew any wave could be broken down into sine waves, but I didn't know what it said after that, which is that you can also break down any wave into waves of any other shape - like, you could add up square waves or piano samples to make a sine wave if you had them at the right pitch, amplitude and phase. that's crazy! is there any software where you can do this? like, load up a sample, load up another sample with a cycle of a waveform, and decompose the first one into a bunch of waves based on the second?

Aphex has designed an audio plugin/vst/device of sorts called Samplebrain for sample mashing. There are builds for Ubuntu, Windows, and Macintosh alike. Check it out here. Dave Griffiths' site for his general projects etc. is here.
