I need a digital recorder, and I was just going to go with the maudio microtrack, but apparently that has been discontinued. I need something in the same price range, with a stereo in port. Any recommendations watmm? I'd love a Sony PCM dm50, but that's too expensive...

A couple of hopefully-interesting patches for the Pulsar 23. I also took the opportunity to dust off my real-time ASCII filter [with which I’ve been preparing some cool things for next month.] You can freely access the entire WAV files of this sessions [+ some bonuses] for sampling in here.

I am so sorry to have to break this bad news. This is a pretty monumental loss, in a year where we've already lost some excellent synthesists (Mira Calix, Klaus Schulze, and Vangelis)... dang, I don't have much else to say Sequential posted this:

Hey everyone, I used to pop in here a lot, mostly to talk about cassette tapes and stuff like that but also share any tidbits I gleaned from incessant but ultimately unused research I'd do myself. Embarrassingly I sort of overthought and waffled on ever actually making music. Years and years have gone by and now I'm in a position where I have a strong itch to do it but no idea where to start. I do have basic and focused ideas on what I want to do and use thankfully, so my questions are more about hardware and software recs. I'll list my basic questions: A good affordable audio interface. I have Tascam US-122L but it's in use with my tape d…

Hello everyone! I'd like to share with you a few excerpts of me playing my new chaotic pointcloud system, in which the particles are being audioreactive to the incoming audio signal. You can find these and quite a few more project files in my Patreon page: https://linktr.ee/uisato

Hi guys, my brain doesn't handle it or lack creativity. I'm wondering about a general approach. DAW is Reaper or Studio One. I want to generally be able to make a measurement at one point/track. Let's say, the simplest, some current average volume level. Depending on the current measurement I want to control parameters, at best ANY, whichever I like. Let's say some feedback parameter of some VST plugin. What is the approach here? Some extra plugin which measures - and permanently spits out control messages? MIDI CC? Aww I did not yet or use Midi cc. Or is there something I do not see? Thx for your input

Okay here we go: Akira Rabelais has released several albums in the time of glitch and microsound and developed a great freeware software with a truly enigmatic interface. You can get it here: http://akirarabelais...e/software.html Scanner and Terre Thaemlitz also used it a lot in their own music. It's hard to describe what you can do with the App but it can create a very uncommon bunch of sound with some simple rules. Has somebody also worked with the Argeïphontes Lyre software and can tell me what I can use for parameters to get good results? I have used the software a lot but I would like to share experience with other users too.

What is your reaction to that? I would be pretty pissed but someone will love it maybe... But why you want to sound exactly like them? Peace

Any software/plugin where you can give it say.... a folder of 3 minute drum playing, audio, and it will automatically determine where drums are and cut them to turn into One-Shots? Only way I really know how is just to input one thing at a time. But if there is a much faster way to do it, and have it export one-shots into a folder or something, that would be great.

Through the use of Ambee’s + NASA’s APIs and TouchDesigner, I’ve managed to capture air quality and near-earth space object [asteroids and fireballs] data in real-time, and used it to trigger MIDI signals in Ableton Live. Said signals are feeding two stock samplers and an instance of SketchCassette. Samplers are loaded one with Thom Yorke’s vocal stems from Nude and Reckoning, and the other one with the song that single-handedly introduced me to guitar-playing. Without further ado:

Hey, everyone! Just came to share my newest video-teaching on a technique which I think a good amount of you will find of interest. In the following video, you’re going to learn how to control both analog and digital instruments through movement with the help of TouchDesigner, Ableton Live and a Kinect camera. yeah yeah i know, i created a thread about harmony recently but this is different. my intention with this thread is to create a place where people can share random tips for chords, progressions, or even melodies. no theory here, no analysis. so no need to be a jazz jedi. no talk about tuning systems here, or psychoacoustics, or music production. only practical tips for harmony/melody. just a bunch of random suggestions. of course we can discuss the theory behind this or that a little bit on the side but that's not my purpose here. and yes, this thread was inspired by @LimpyLoo's defunct tip du jour threads - which i never read btw, i didn't know the first thing abou…

I only know of three of these vsts. The one from 20 years ago Aphex used for the above track. Izotope Iris 2. And to an extent Harmor. HOWEVER I have forgotten the name of the Formula one, but I remember it was for Mac's Only so I never got it. Izotope Iris 2 is really a combination of a typical synth with the additive synth stuff, however the workflow for it isn't as 'free' as what AFX used for "Formula" so Iris 2 is out. It feels restricted. I do own it btw but always disappointed when I try to use it purely for drawing the sound. And for Harmor, only way to draw waveforms would be to do it outside of harmor. So again the workflow for doing something like…

Even though my music often has an ambient/softer type sound, I still worked towards maximizing the volume with a limiter on the master. I think I could do this more without worrying about sacrificing the dynamics too much. I just don't know what to do to make it sound thicker and "on fire". Another thing about my situation, is that these tracks are pretty much a stereo output of a synth I've been making, minus some added reverbs. It's not the end of the world, but if anyone can suggest something vital I'm missing on the mixing stage would be a lot of help. I even provided the source wav if you'd like to play around with it. Thanks!

I've been finding awesome music production tools online recently. I really hadn't looked since like 2015 and it was lackluster then. But now with Ai suddenly a lot of awesome online tools are cropping up like the infinite drum machine: https://experiments.withgoogle.com/ai/drum-machine/view/ Which is not THAT new anymore, but still. I am wanting to find more. What is interesting about online tools are ones that can only be used online. For example ai based ones that wouldn't be able to run on your computer, but remotely you gain access to it. Question: I may be remembering this wrong, but I remember reading that there were websites starting to pop up where you c…

Hey, everyone. I think that some of you might be interested in my latest experiment: Through the use of NASA’s API and TouchDesigner, I’ve managed to capture near-earth space objects data [asteroids and fireballs], and used it to trigger MIDI signals in Ableton Live. Said signals are feeding a stock sampler, which happens to be loaded with a couple of one of my favorite artist’s vocal takes. To give it a little more musicality to the experiment, I decided to iterate through the data of the last six objects that passed close to Earth between the selected dates.

Hey all! Hope you're well. So I've recently bought my strat and love it and ive been very close to buying a boss katana MK2 amp and a foot controller which is like 400£ or maybe a tad bit more. I've got an old fender champion 110 but the spring reverb is really noisy which is kind of annoying. But I've sort of decided to delay this until I can get a proper amp used and save my cash. I've been considering the lyra 8 but I think it's out of budget. I've also been considering getting a techno expansion card for my jv 1080 which I adore now I've got the midi editor working and purchased some extra presets. The Don solaris pack. The expansion card is £100 on ebay. Or ba…

I have been using a $40 pair of skullcandy headband style headphones. Kinda shit. Actually the sound quality is fantastic but I have NO idea what they designers were thinking when they used the plastic. Tofu would have been a stronger decision. I'm looking for headband style, or the ones that go behind your head. I fucking hate earbuds so don't even start with that. What do you guys use? I don't mind them being somewhat big, but not too huge. I am not using them for performing or anything, but I want some really decent sound quality so I can hear all the subtleties of the music.
