edit: it's back for 2018! I remember a few people here joined in on the WB fun back in 2014, so I thought I'd post about it again since it's back again for 2016. Who's in? I'm hoping to use it as a way to get more familiar with the new hardware I've acquired over the past year or so, and to build up some good patterns on my monomachine for live gigs. http://weeklybeats.com/

Just bought a Roland JV 1080. Just start playing a few of the presets and this thing sounds very nice. Lots of editing ability so this will make a welcome addition to my set up! Any users out there?

Possibly the most current image we have (from 2011 sonar promotion article) this is a pretty old picture. I see a 2 keyboards one looks like an MS-20, some very large speakers and something that looks like atari? What else? What era is that from? SAW period? later? earlier? This is where I took it from: This shines more light on the blurry image (thx ZoeB): This is also pretty well known:

writing DANCE music 1 2

Honestly never tried. I have a feeling that a fast bpm catchy track is just as hard to write as a more experimental cerebral track... It takes more than 4/4 beat, it has to maintain that energy hmmmm Anyone have experience writing dance stuff or more poppy electronic? It's worth a shot I guess, I usually just write stuff without any particular influence and it usually turns into ambient techno. So yeah just wondering if you guys ever take breaks from writing weird shit and do other stuff?

Any users here on the forum? Has some very nice pads. I had a decent play with it yesterday. Its a big old synth well biggest synth I've ever owned!! Anyways check out some videos of me playing it badly ha ha. One thing I noticed is that nothing seemed to change when using the joystick or am I missing something??? :0 https://www.instagram.com/p/BzVK6pBl66X/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link https://www.instagram.com/p/BzVfPijF0Y1/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I admit I am not much of a manual reading person, and it is probably described somewhere inside, but I don't even know what section to look at. I need to rant about this, tomorrow I will Google (unless it is down again). Basically my issue today is that I am messing with my project, and I have some loops going, I may have touched some CCs on my external MIDI controllers but there is no arrangement automation or no clips on the track that I am about to record a loop on. So I arm the track and grab the drumsticks, ready to record this really sick beat I have on the Yamaha DTX12M. Before I start recording the clip in session view, I rehearse a bit and the sound and…

Okay so I'm feeling a bit dumb right now. I've got a pair of monitors that can take balanced audio via TRS or XLR. I would like to connect two interfaces to them and A/B between the two (there is no real need to mix). One interface does balanced out via a pair of TRS outputs exclusively, the other only does balanced over two XLR outs. What I've been trying to search for is either a switch that could take both the 2xTRS and 2xXLR inputs directly, or two pairs of the same type (I'm assuming I can always use adapter cables for one of the interfaces). And then it should have a pair of TRS or XLR outputs to connect my monitors. I feel like a simple passive …

I know a lot of you have one. Am looking at getting one too when I get some extra dough so might have to wait a while ha. Anyways seems like a good bread and butter sound module. Thoughts?

Picked up Syntorial a while back and there are free lessons packs for Serum, Sylenth and Massive amongst others. Not completely new to production/synthesis, but decided it’d be nice to learn in a nice cohesive linear fashion for once. Bread and butter up until now has been Operator and Elektrons. Going to pick one and get stuck in, any recommendations as to which synth to go for?

I’m not a big plug in guy as you may know since I evangelize myself as such every chance I get. I’ve tried waves stuff and even have a cracked tape waves plug a friend sent me, but besides a few odds and ends (the big free ones, air windows, korg polysix), I’ve never really used a brand of plugins. I despise running authorizing software/keys etc. however, last year I saw a YouTube video by Jamie Lidell on the soundtoys little altar boy, and it was one of the best showcases of a plug-in I’ve ever seen. After seeing that, I downloaded the demo of the suite and made a bunch of tracks. It was the first time i ever felt that excited about third party plugins, and consider…

for the last million of yrs i've been producing music on my lovely-deadly-dated desktop pc with an old intel q6600 cpu and with 4 gb of ddr2 667 mhz ram, which was great back then when those specs were the best offer but not any more, not with todays sw/plugins. i can't mix with more than just a few quality verbs or saturators... cant stand this hell any more! recently i changed the hdd to ssd but that changed only a global responsiveness of windows. soooo, im finally planing buy a new comp, also with very good specs. the thing is if you buy a comp with great specs it's gonna last for a long long time (the last one lasted arround ten yrs?). i already have some parts that…

Black Friday Impulse Buys and the Dangerous Incomprehensibility of Electronic Currency 1 2

Ignore the fancy title. Mainly just thinking about how easy it is to drops loads of cash on VST's and software where, if you had to put it against a physical object, you might think twice. Question here is: Is there anything you're picking up for Black Friday that's a super steal (or that you already have, but you've noticed is a key piece of software other people should take advantage of)? I picked up NI Noire for their 50% discount sale - I had, ahem, tried it out beforehand and feel like it's my perfect piano VST - the feel of it is exactly what I want and the added bonus of the particles engine makes for some very excellent ambience. Highly recommended. …

Got a Boss RC-505, it's awesome. However I keep running into a single thing that is driving me insane. Anyone know how to make the thing save the MIDI channel if you change it in settings? It defaults to 1 every time I turn it on (want it at 13). I change it, his write, save it to both the preset and userset. Next time I turn it on, it's back at channel 1.

Anyone have any experience with using Logic Pro 9.1.8 on El Capitan? Checked elsewhere on the internet and heard conflicting reports, hoping someone on here has done this and whether they've experienced any issues. Currently on Yosemite so would just be upgrading as opposed to reinstalling everything.

this is pretty crazy. All the server check ins caused mojave and catalina macs to go bananas. Yesterday my 2018 Macbook Pro on Mojave froze, glitched, stuttered. It became unusable. I did all the usual fixes and got fed up and eventually booted into safe mode and reinstalled Mojave. That fixed all the issues but WTF apple?? what as hit show. the backend verification notarization server check ins really dropped a deuce in the punchbowl. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/11/macos-big-sur-launch-appears-to-cause-temporary-slowdown-in-even-non-big-sur-macs/

Hello amazing people. So I'm investing in a new interface and a new desktop PC which I'm hoping to put a thunderbolt card into to so I can use the latest interfaces with thunderbolt. I've narrowed down thunderbolt choices to these. I'm still looking at USB2/USB3 options too but I thought I'd look at these first as the ideal options. I suppose I don't know if it's totally worth the investment. 1 - Focusrite Clarett 8 Pre - 8 ins/10 outs. - £700 2 - Motu 828x thunderbolt and USB2 audio interface - 10ins/12 outs. - £688.80 3 - presonus quantum 2626 thunderbolt 3 audio interface. - 8ins/14 outs. - £462 Basically I'm intending to buy an inter…

I'm surprised there is no mention of this on the forum at all.. Anyone got one? I'm pretty keen to get one after seeing this video: Seems like it could be set up in a way to sync my OP-1 with nanoloop, pocket operators etc. Plus, being able to load/edit PD patches on the device seems like it could be like a super version of a Nord Micro Modular or something..?

Splice is giving away Ableton Live 10 Lite edition for free until the end of this year: https://splice.com/daws/38929163-live-10-lite-vst-by-ableton I think you may have to register with Splice to get it, not sure, but might be useful for someone who doesn't have Live already and wants to check out the basics.

Have had this riff stuck in my head for a while now, and pretty sure it is something UK/Early 90s. Maybe Warp. Just lashed it out on Operator there but it's fairly close. Any clues hugely appreciated! Untitled.wav

First of all, great mixer. Only 1 problem : When I change the time when the Flanger effect is open, it restarts its cycle. Very annoying. With the Pioneer EFX or the Ecler NUO5 effects the cycle continued while changing the length. Anybody knows maybe if you can customise it? Providing me with the correct technical methodology would also help me. Thanks.

I have two things going around in my projects recently: The "Track 2" mystery. 2 identical MIDI tracks, with Arpeggiator, NoteModulator M4L device, then a MIDI rack with 6 Chord devices so I can run an arp and add some harmonic notes by fading up the rack knobs. The first track works as I expect it to: notes go in and go out to the hardware. There are no duplicate notes due to NoteModulator or any of the Chord instances. The 2nd track is outputting 6x noteon-noteoff for as it should (I assume one copy for each chord instance chain). In fact I notice that I have set up the MIDI rack in a stupid way so it actually does multiply the notes, but in this case why do…
